Irene Ashton can only des-
cribe her recent flight to Ger-
many as a visit to fairyland. She
found the people there friendly,
the food delicious, and their
spotlessly’clean homes adorned
with willy boxes of flowers.
Of course, the main attraction
for her month’s visit was her
new granddaughter, Heidi Ann,
who was born Sept. 13. Irene
was accompanied by Mrs. Paul
Erwine, Plymouth, who is
Heidi’s maternal grandmother.
They were the guests of Heidi’s
parents 1st. Lt. and Mrs. Ronald
Ashton of Landstuhl, Germany.
They were joined there later by
Nancy Ashton, Ceasetown,
Ronald’s sister. On Oct. 13,
Heidi was christened by the
base chaplain. Nancy Ashton is
her Godmother. While there,
they travelled over 1500 miles,
sightseeing in Germany. They
visited the Black Forest, exper-
ienced a snow storm in the Ba-
varian Alps (where they had
gone to visit two famous ski re-
sorts), attended a wine festival,
and visited a castle before their
return home.
