Members of the Dallas Senior
High Sch Chorus, the Jay
Miller Trio, and Brad Hochhal-
ter, all students of Dallas High
School, will participate in the
finals of the Kiwanis Music Fes-
tival for 1972, sponsored by the
Kiwanis Club of Dallas, at the
Wilkes College Center of the
Performing Arts, March 27 at 8
p.m. The local students were
chosen after auditions of some
of the best talent in Northeas-
tern Pennsylvania. All will
compete in the high school divi-
sion.
Competing in the classical in-
strumental group will be Brad
Hochhalter, a senior, in the
classical large group will be the
Dallas Chorus; and in the pop
vocal group will be the Jay
Miller Trio.

Others selected as finalists in
the high school division are:
Linda Theresa Papatopoli,
Wilkes-Barre, a senior at
Bishop Hoban High, and Geor-
gine Knight of Wyoming and
Central Catholic, classical key-
board; Kathleen Steinbacher,
Watsontown, a senior at War-
rior Run High, and Debra Con-
stance of West Hazleton, a soph-
omore at West Hazleton Senior
High, classical vocal.
“The Villa’ of Mountaintop,
nine students from Crestwood
and Meyers High Schools, pop
instrumental; John Nicolosi of
Watsontown, a senior at War-
rior Run High, also in the clas-
sical instrumental; ‘“The Cob-
blestones’’ of Troy Area
Schools, pop large group;
G.A.R. Stage Band of Wilkes-
Altair @irlines Inc. has of-
fered assurances of full
scheduling plus additional
flights during the shutdown of
the jet runway at the Wilkes-
Barre-Scranton Airport during
most of May, thus affording
north-south service for
passengers to and from
Allentown, Philadelphia,
Baltimore-Washington and
Richmond, Va., also Albany,
N.J. and New England.
Wilkes-Barre-Scranton ~~ Air-
port officials are endeavoring to
have commuter flights ex-
panded during the curtailment
of jet service by Allegheny and
Youth Groups Plan
Easter Morn Service
A Sungse Service sponsored
by theffSenior High Youth
Groups of the Trucksville,
Shavertown and Dallas United
Methodist Churches, will be
held at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday on
the lawn of the Trucksville
Church (Church Road just off
Rt. 309).
The ghivice will include a
brass caul to worship, a solo,
and singing by a combined
youth choir. The Easter
message will be delivered by
the Rev. Brian Cloud, chaplain
at Wyoming Seminary.
A light breakfast will be
served in Fellowship Hall
following. the service which will
be held indoors in case of in-
clement weather. Visitors will
be cordially welcomed.

For Wedding Stationery
Eastern Air Lines necessitated
by the reconstruction of the
6,500-foot jet runway.
Allegheny Air Lines officials
have agreed to study plans for
increasing Allegheny Com-
muter Service to Newark as a
step in avoiding inconvenience
to passengers.
Altair - Monmouth, and
Suburban commuter officials
have been requested to provide
additional flights to schedules
during the critical period of
main runway improvements
and related projects.
Altair’s response in the af-
firmative is viewed as the first
step in lessening the grave
situation associated with the
reconstruction program costing
more than $1,000,000.
Frederick R. Simmonds, vice
president of operations, and
Harry M. McGary, sales
manager of Altair, have
assured airport officials of full
scheduling and additional
flights which will be provided on
evidence of need.
They explained an emergency
Scranton Airport during the

and they see no problem in
utilizing the airstrips available

Mansfield State College, instru-
mental large group.
Not appearing in the finals,
but receiving special commen-
dation and honorable mention
were Dorothy Weaver of Noxen,
a senior at Lake-Lehman High;
Susam Kimber of West Pittston
and Wyoming Area High;
Dennis Size of Scranton and
Scranton Prep School.
G. McDade Completes
Training at Cape May
Coast Guard Seaman Appren-
tice Gary T. McDade, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward W. McDade of
20 Sunset Drive, Dallas, gradu-
ated from basic training at the
Coast Guard Training Center at
Cape May, N.J.
He is a 1969 graduate of
The Dallas Senior High School
Concert Band will present a
program in the senior high
school auditorium March 24 at 8
p.m. Inciuded in the program
will be the majorettes, a 100-
voice mixed chorus, an
elementary band and the senior
high school stage band.
Special majorette routines
will be performed to the music
of “King Cotton’ and “Our
Registration Is Set
Kindergarten registration
will be held in the office of the
elementary supervisor, in-
termediate building, Church
of the Westmoreland
Elementary School, 106 S.
Lehigh St., Trucksville, from
April 10 to 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4
p.m. daily.
Children with last names
beginning with A, B,C, D, and E
will register April 10; F, G, H, I
and J April 11; K, L, M, N, and
0 April 12; P,Q, R,S, and T,
April 13; and U,V, W, X, Y, and
Z April 14. Children who are not
now attending kindergarten
may register for first grade
April 14.
Anyone not able to register
during this time should contact
the office and make the
necessary arrangements.
Birth certificates must ac-
company all registrants.
Vaccination certificates must
be presented before the child
enters school in September.
Children will be admitted for
kindergarten if they are five
years of age before Feb. 1, 1973.
Lefko To Transfer
To State College
Scott Lefko, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Lefko, 21 Luzerne
Ave., Dallas, student at Penn
State’s Wilkes-Barre Campus,
will transfer to the university’s
main campus at University
Park with the beginning of the
third term, it was announced by
John R. Murphy, dean of
student affairs. .
" Scott is a 1970 graduate of
Dallas Senior High School
where he played varsity
basketball for three years and
was selected as a member of the
all-scholastic team during his
senior year. He also played
football, basketball, and was a
member of the track team.
He attended Millersville State
College during his freshman
year and transferred to Wilkes-
Barre Campus at the beginning
of the fall term as a student in
the physical education
program. During his enrollment
at the local campus he was a
member of the varsity
basketball team ending third in
points scored with a total of 206
in 15 games for an average of
13.8.
At University Park, he is
enrolled in the health, physical
education and recreation
program with a major, in
Director’ marches. A special
Dixieland combo with band
accompaniment will play “The
Original Dixieland Concerto.”
A senior brass quartet made up
of Michael Davis, Robert Carle,
Alan Zaboski and Jay Miller
will play a special arrangement
by Adam Gabrieli. A flute en-
semble accompanied by Nancy
Pichert at the piano will be a
part of the grade school
program.
The combined band and
chorus will present a number
entitled “From Sea to Shining
Sea.” This is a variation of the
tune, ‘‘America the Beautiful.”
Organists for the program will
be Marilyn Miller and Mary Lou
Porter.
The majorettes are coached
by Maureen Lavelle. The mixed
chorus is under the direction of
Florence Sherwood and the
complete instrumental
program is under the direction
of Lester R. Lewis.
Drug Seminar
Tonight at Dallas
The Dallas Junior Woman’s
Club will sponsor a drug
seminar tonight at 7:30 p.m.
at the Dallas Junior High
School. The panel discussion
will include Joel Rome,
Malabar; William Pugh,
Kingston Township Police
Dept.; Mary Ward, Dallas
School District, and a
physician. This seminar is to
inform parents and concerned
adults and students of the many
aspects of the current drug
situation. The public is urged to
attend.
Mrs. Robert Yarashus has
appointed Mrs. Kurt Cleaver
chairman, and Mrs. William
Michaels, co-chairman.
