¥ Be Page 6 From Webb . Jon Jay LaBerge, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Charles Dallas, has been awarded a four year scholarship to Webb Insti- tute of Naval Architecture, at Glen Cove, Long Island. Jon, a senior at Dallas Area Senior ‘High School, is one of only 25 students accepted an- nually by the Institite which is a fully approved college of naval architecture and marine engin- eering with a curriculum ac- credited by The Engineers’ Council for Professional Development and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Undergraduate students are granted scholarships and by nature of the school’s procedure, requirements for rigorous and exacting. Those students accepted must rank high in academic achievement, abilities, attitudes, and ex- tracurricular activity. While in high school Jon has been a three year member of the Key Club and was inducted into the National Honor Society Jon Jay LaBerge in his junior year. This year he is treasurer of the society. He has been a member of the basketball team in tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades and a member of the track team in his sophomore and junior years. Lake-Lehman Grads Enlist in U.S. Navy The Navy Recruiting Office located in the Wyoming Valley Veterans Administration Building 19 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre, announced today that two local young men have enlisted in the Navy. Nicolaas Deleur Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicolaas Deleur Sr. of Box 409C, Harveys Lake, and a 1970 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. Robert Lynch is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lynch of 19 Marlington Ave., Dallas, and is also a 1970 graduate of Lake- Lehman High School. After completing recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif., Nicolaas and Robert will come home on two weeks’ recruit leave and will then depart for machinery re- pairman class A school.
