Amid the hustle and bustle
between Christmas and New
~ Years, let us urge you to take
time out to enjoy the beauty that
surrounds us this time of year.
~~ The holiday decorations seem to
improve with each passing year
“and no where can you find
lovelier ones than in our own
Jackson Township. Try taking
an early morning ride and see
for yourself.
Looking forward to the dawn
of a new year are Mr. and Mrs.
James Roushey, who will be
celebrating their 51st wedding
anniversary Jan. 2, and Mrs.
Roushey’s 72nd birthday Jan. 1.
She was the former Lena Kyttle
of West Nanticoke. She has
served as the organist of the
Jackson United Methodist
Church for 37 years and has
been treasurer of that church
for 25 years. Mr. Roushey was
formerly employed by the Glen
Alden Coal Co. and was a
custodian at Wyoming
Seminary. They have been
residents of Jackson Township
for 37 years. They
are the parents of one son,
William Roushey of Raritan,
N.J., and they have three
grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Mrs. Ray Perrego and her
sister, Mrs. John Byers of
Resevoir Road, have returned
from spending Christmas with
Mrs. Perrego’s son and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Don Perrego and
children, Jocelyn and Jonathon
+ of Dillsberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lashford
have as their guests this week
their nieces, Bethann and
Robyn Jakoboski of Springfield,
Va.
Mr. and Mrs. John
Eisenhower of Fieldcrest spent
the Christmas holiday as guests
of her son and his family, Mr. -
and Mrs. Harold Ebling and
three children of West Lawn.
The Eisenhowers also visited
her brothers, Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Eberly of Laurel Dale
and Mr. and Mrs. John Eberly
of Blue Ball.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Hogoboom will entertain at an
open house at their home on
Sutton Road Dec. 28.

hope that 1972 will be a year full
of joy and happiness for each

Sutton Road had as their guests
for Christmas dinner, Mr. and
Mrs. .. Henry Doran. Jr.
Scranton, and the younger Mrs.
Doran’s mother, Dr. Magdalene
Suarez of Miami, Fla., and
sister, Yolanda Suarez, a
student at Northfield School for
girls in Massachusetts. They
also had Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Doran, Kingston for Christmas
dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. John Fielding of
Sutton Road have as their
guests, Mr. and Mrs. Don
Broecker, Clawson, Mich. Mrs.
Broecker is formerly from
Huntsville.
Mr. and Mrs. James Van
Landingham, Merritt Island,
Fla., have spent the Christmas
holidays visiting Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Weaver of Sutton Road.
Mrs. Van Landingham is the
former Gwen Weaver.

Park, is spending the holiday
period with her sister Mrs.
Herbert Updyke 105 Davis
Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Ben-
nett, Orchard Street, spent the
Christmas holiday and weekend
~with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gary

‘Manchester, Conn., announce
the birth of a daughter, Sharen
Margaret, born Dec. 7. Mrs.
Croom is the former Susan
Lockman of West Lawn. Mr.
Croom is assistant district
manager for the Congloman
Corporation in the Philadelphia
area. The family will make
their home in Douglasville after
the holidays.
- Mrs. Frank Ondish and infant
son have returned to their home
at 226 Meadowcrest from Mercy
Hospital.
Mrs. Raymond Rondinella
and infant son have returned to
their home at 257 Meadowcrest
from Wyoming Valley Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Martin,
Carverton Road, entertained
members of their families at
dinner on Christmas day.
Malcom Conygham, a student
at the Darrow School, New
Lebamon, N.J., and his sister,
Tami, a student at the Madeira
School, Greenway, Va., are the -
holiday guests of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie Conyg-
ham, S. Pioneer Avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. John Roman,
Elm Terrace, entertained
members of their families
during the holiday period.
Harry DeWitt, S. Pioneer
Avenue, spent the Christmas
holiday with his son, Paul, and
family in Towanda.
Mrs. Robert Johnson, Car-
verton Road, was confined to
her home several days last
week by illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Yanalunas, Princeton, N.J., are
visiting his parents Mr. and
Mrs. Vito Yanalunas, Clifside
Avenue.
Evelyn Orchard, Washington,
D.C., arrived Friday to spend
the holiday season with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad
Orchard, Cliffside Avenue.
James Pichert, a student at
Bucknell University, is spen-
ding the Christmas holidays
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Pichert, 53 Carverton
Road.
Bertha Evans and Janet
Evans, 226 Holly Street, spent
Christmas and the weekend
with Anna Thomas and family,
Vestal, N.Y.

Helen Rhode is in serious con-
dition at the General Hospital.
She is a sister to Mollie Dim-

The annual Christmas party
of the Classmates of the Meth-
odist Church was held at the
home of Mrs. Clarence Parks.
The evening was spent in sing-
ing Christmas carols and
playing games. Gifts were ex-

turned to her home from Tyler
Hospital Sunday.

and Mrs. Chester Keiper at-
tended the 50th wedding anni-
versary of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Correll at Carbondale Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Gary,
South River, N.J., called on
Jacob Miner Wednesday and at-
tended the funeral of Mrs. Hazel
Dibble at Montrose.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Boone and
family of Eyersville visited re-
lative in Noxen Saturday.
Gayle Space returned to her
home from General Hospital
Wednesday, after submitting to
surgery. She wishes to thank
everyone for the cards, gifts,
and letters sent to her while she
was a patient there. It was
much enjoyed and greatly ap-
preciated.

visited Mr. and Mrs. Carlton
Cahill and family, West Pittston
and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Myers,
Hunlock Creek, Sunday.
