Publication Kingston Board Pays Tribute To Late Road Superintendent In memory of the late Lawton Culver, road superintendent, the Kingston Township Board of Supervisors observed a moment of silence at their Dec. 15 meeting. The 1972 tentative budget was approved, and Secreatry Michael Stanley was authorized to advertise it. Supervisor Ed Richards announced false-arrest in- surance is in effect for mem- bers of the police force. He requested that the police pension fund be amended to include benefits for a widow whose husband is killed in the line of duty. This was adopted by the board. In line with township officials not serving in two capacities, Mr. Richards resigned from the Police Pension Commission. Spencer Martin was named to a five- year term on Dallas Area Municipal Authority. The board was advised by Solicitor Ben Jones 3rd that Meadowcrest Housing Develop- ment has a licensed sewage treatment plant in operation, and therefore, does not have to hook into the Dallas Area sewer system. Mrs. Herbert Updyke and son, Robert Updyke, each donated to the police depart- ment certain personal effects, including firearms, and fur- niture of the late Herbert Up- dyke, police chief. A new zoning ordinance has been drawn up and will be advertised for two weeks prior to a public hearing. 4A number of residents of Midway Manor and Carverton Heights voiced complaints about snow removal during the Thanksgiving holidays. Lehman Firemen Guests at Party Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lehman Volunteer Fire Company were hostesses at a Christmas party for the firemen of the company. Entertainment for the affair was provided by Dallas Woman's Club Chorale. Mrs. Robert Shepherd, Haddonfield Hills, Dallas, chairman of the Christmas welfare program, announced that arrangements had been made to collect canned goods in the Back Mountain and to deliver them by Dec. 19. Christmas favors for children of needy families were made by Girl Scouts of the Back Mountain area. Dallas Junior Woman's Club will sponsor all Girl Scout troops in the Back Mountain area who do not presently have SpONSOrs. Mrs. Edward Thompson announced that a thank you letter was received from Deborah Bednar, this year’s scholarship recipient, now attending Broome Technical College, Binghamton. Mrs. Evan Bonawitz an- nounced that the art contest for club members and area students will be held in January and that the sewing contest for club members and members and area students will be held in February.
