Publication Penn State to Exhibit Art by Faculty Members An art exhibit at the Wilkes- Barre Campus of The Pennsyl- vania State University Nov. 22 through Dec. 3 has been an nounced by George W. Bierly,campus director. The exhibit is one in a series of cultural events planned by the university for both students and the general public. : The exhibit will feature paintings of Wirth McCoy, professor. of art, and Eleanor Zygler, associate professor of art, both Penn State faculty members. Mr. McCoy is a graduate of The University of Minnesota, University of Iowa and Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He has also. studied at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco, and with painters Yasuo Kuniggki, Mark Rothko and othe Prior to his position with Penn State, Mr. McCoy taught for five years at Oregon State University and then, for 11 yedrs was artist in residence and director of the Washington State University Art Center in Spokane. He has been head of the Department of Art at Penn State for the past seven years. His exhibit will represent the various directions he has pursued in the last 10 years including both pictorial and abstract paintings. His most recent work represents his sab- batical leave in Guatemala and Mexico where he painted the picturesque village of San Miguel d’'Allende. A second recent work, ‘‘A Spot of Blue’, completely abstract in nature, will also be exhibited. Miss Zygler, a member of the faculty at Penn State, University Park, has been in- strumental in developing community art classes and Art Alliance of Central Pennsyl- vania. She studied art at Car- negie Mellon University, Mills College, Yale University, and Brandeis. She also studied with Mr. Kunyoshi at Ohio University, Hans Hoffman, Provincetown, and at the In- stitute de Belles Artes, San Miguel, Mexico. Mr. Dower will lecture on basic hymn playing, basic anthem accompaniment, and suggestions for preludes and offertories. Depending upon the instruments played by the people attending, Mr. Dower will extend his lecture to include electronic instruments. He will also demonstrate techniques. Area Students Attend Penn State Career Day Two Lake-Lehman high school seniors were among the 150 students from 15 area-wide high schools attending the recent Career Day at Wilkes- Barre Campus of The Pennsyl- “ vania State University. The program, sponsored by members of Circle K. Club, was for the purpose of helping high school seniors become familiar with various courses offered by the local campus and opportun- ities available in related fields. The students were welcomed by John R. Murphy, dean of student affairs, and received in- formation on registration and educational programs from both Dean Murphy and Coun- selor Robert Sabatino. Following lunch hosted by Circle K members, the seniors visited various facilities and de- partments with club members acting as guides.
