Obituaries
MARIA L. NEUNER
A heart attack claimed the
life of Maria Leopolder Neuner
Nov. 11. Mrs. Neuner, 65, was a
resident of 60 Hildonia Ave.,
Dallas.
The daughter of the late
Johann and Marie Holztrattner
Leopolder, Mrs. Neuner was
born in Austria and educated in
Austrian schools. She was a
member of Gate of Heaven
Church, Dallas, its Altar and
Rosary Society and Mercy
Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her
widower, Joseph; a son, Curtis,
N.Y. a. brother,
Johann Leopolder, and sisters,
. Freida Mitterhofer and Mrs.
Paul Egger, all of Austria; four
grandchildren.
The funeral was held
Saturday morning from the
Richard H. Disque Funeral
Home, Dallas, with a Requiem
Mass in Gate of Heaven Church.
Interment was in Chapel Lawn
Cemetery, Dallas.
JOHN T. SHORTS
John T. Shorts, 62, Union,
- N.J., formerly of Courtdale and
well known throughout the Back
~ Mountain, died Nov. 4 following
a three-month tilness.
Born in Courtdale, son of the
late John and Bessis Shorts, he
attended local schools and
worked as a miner until moving
to New Jersey 25 years ago,
where he was employed as a
~ wire drawer at Engelhard
Industries.
He is survived by his widow,
the former Cordelia Phillips of
Plymouth; three’daughters,
Linda and Sandra, at home, and
Betty Lesko, Phillipsburg, N.J.;
two grandsons; sister, Ethel
Shorts, Courtdale; brother,
George, Wilmington, Ohio; and
a niece, Mrs. A. E. Brown,
Shavertown.
Funeral services were held in
Union, N.J. Interment was in
Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover
Township.
THOMAS R. KELLY
Thomas R. Kelly, a one-time
resident of Trucksville, died
Nov. 12 at Wallingford, Conn.,
where he most recently made
his home. He was 30.
‘Born in Kingston Feb. 19,
© 1941, he attended Westmoreland
High School, Trucksville, and
lived at Wallingford the past
seven years. He was employed
as a steel worker by Charles
Pisler Corporation.
Survivors include his widow,
the former Jean Ankle of Kit-
tery, Me.; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. James Kelly, Trucksville;
son, Thomas, and daughters,
Kathleen Ann and Christine, at
home; brothers, James and
Donald Kelly, and a sister,
Pauline Kelly, all of Dallas.
The funeral was held yester-
day morning from the Harold C.
Snowdon Funeral Home,
Shavertown, with the Rev.
William C. Bispels of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Shavertown,
officiating. Interment was in
Mt. Greenwood Cemetery,
Trucksville.
CHARLES WEAVER
Dead on arrival at the Wilkes-
Barre General Hospital Sunday
night was Charles Weaver, 62,
of Noxen.
Born at Alderson, he formerly
‘was employed by the Armour
Tannery, Noxen.
He is survived by his widow,
the former Lisa Space; sons,
Ralph, Jersey City,
NJ;
Ronald, Green Cove, Fla.;
David, ‘at home; daughters,
Mrs. Howard Keller, Noxen;
Ruth, at home; 16 grand-
children; sisters, Mrs. Frank
Wright, Noxen; Edna Lee,
Idetown.
The funeral will be held this
afternoon at 2 from the Nulton
Funeral Home, Beaumont, with
the Rev. Jerry Tallent of In-
dependent Bible Church,
Noxen, officiating. Burial will
be in Orcutt Cemetery, Noxen.
ALBERT J. JACOBS
A heart attack Saturday
afternoon claimed the life of
Albert J. Jacobs of Bunker Hill,
Kingston Township. Mr. Jacobs
was visiting at the home of his
sister, Lillian Yenches, 27
Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, at
the time of the attack. Deputy
Coroner Richard Disque of
Dallas investigated.
A native of Swoyersville, Mr.
Jacobs spent most of his life in
Bunker Hill, living with his
sister in Shavertown for the last
two years. He retired five years
ago from the American Chain
and Cable Co., Exeter.
A veteran of World War II, he
was a member of St. Ann's
Church, Luzerne.
Survivors include daughters,
Mrs. Donald Stenson, Lands-
dale; Natalie, Kingston;
Barbara, Shavertown; one
grandchild; sisters, Mrs.
Yenches and Agnes Jacobs,
Shavertown.
The funeral was held from the
Joseph C. Betz Funeral Home,
Luzerne, Tuesday morning with
a Requiem High Mass in St.
Ann’s Church. Burial was in
Mount Olivet Cemetery, Car-
verton
CHARLES NICOL
Charles Skea Nicol of 21
Orchard St.,
last Friday morning in Wilkes-
Barre General Hospital where
he had been a patient three
weeks. He was 88.
Born in Kingston, he lived in
Trucksville the past 15 years.
He was a graduate of Wyoming
Seminary and was a salesman.
He was a member of Shaver-
town United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow,
the former Mable A. Voight;
children, Robert C., Covington,
Va.; Mrs. Raymond Elston,
Dallas; Charles J., Shaver-
town; Mrs. Reginald Davies,
Pittsbutgh; brother, George,
Hazleton; 10 grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were con-
ducted Monday morning at the
Richard H. Disque Funeral
Home, Dallas, with the Rev.
Robert DeWitt Yost, officiating.
Interment was in Forty Fort
Cemetery.
