Misericordia Holds
First Trustees Day
Members of College Miseri-
cordia’s Board of Trustees con-
ducted the first ‘Board of
Trustees Day’’ ever held at the
college last Friday as the board
members availed themselves
for open discussion with all
members of the college com-
munity.
In the interest of promoting
better communication at all
levels of the college community,
the board members assembled
in Kennedy Lounge on campus
and invited students, faculty
members, and administrators
to meet with them over coffee
for informal discussion.
Following a two-hour mor-
ning session, the Board had
lunch with the students in the
college’s dining room. In the
afternoon, they were again
available for open discussion
from 1 to 2, held their regularly
scheduled meeting, and dined
again with the students during
the evening meal.
The experiment in better
communications was a success,
according to College Miseri-
cordia president, Sister Miriam
Teresa, RSM, with large
numbers of the college com-
munity attending the discussion
sessions. Board members were
particularly pleased with the
number of students attending,
Sister Miriam Teresa said, pro-
viding the two-way communi-
cations flow sought by the
Board.
Wilkes Names Piazza
To College Who's Who
Ross Piazza, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Piazza of 99 N.
Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, has
been selected for recognition in
the forthcoming 1971-72
publication of ‘‘Who’s Who
Among Students in American
Colleges and Universities,”
according to George F. Ralston,
dean of Wilkes College.
UNICEF is active in over 100
countries, bringing millions of
children better health and nu-
trition. But physical care is not
all that children need. One-third
of UNICEF’s resources are
spent on aiding education. To
keep pace with population
growth, UNICEF is steadily in-
creasing its flow of educational
equipment and teacher-training
grants in many of these coun-
tries.
Mr. Piazza is one of 32 Wilkes
College seniors thus selected.
He and his colleagues have been
recognized for their con-
tributions to the college and the
community and during their
college careers have main-
tained an academic average of
not less than 2.0.
Selection for the publication is
based on preliminary selection
by the deans and referral to
department chairmen for ap-
proval. Then additions or
deletions are made on
recommendation from the
chairmen. The final approved
list is then sent to the journal for
publication.
Mr. Piazza, a graduate of
Dallas Senior High School, has
been active in student govern-
ment. He lettered in wrestling
in high school.
