9 Teachers Join F
The recent appointment of
“nine new professional em-
ployees in the Dallas School
District has been announced by
Linford Werkheiser, superin-
tendent of the Dallas Schools.
Five have been assigned to
duties in the kindergarten and
elementary schools while four
will join the teaching staff at the
Dallas Junior and Senior High
Schools.
Abby A. Jones
‘Abby A. Jones, White Birch
Trailer Court, RD 1, Dallas, will
also join the faculty at Dallas
Senior High School, where she
will instruct biology. Miss Jones
attended Luzerne County
Community College, and was
graduated from College Miseri-
cordia with a B.S. degree in the
field of biology and chemistry.
While in college, Miss Jones
participated as a cheerleader,
in the Biology Club, and on the
the
school newspaper.
Assigned to teach third grade
in the Trucksville Elementary
School, Ina Kintner, RD 1,
Tunkhannock, was graduated
from Bloomsburg State College
with a B.S. degree in the field of
elementary education and
mathematics. While in college,
Mrs. Kintner participated in
sports. She has had experience
teaching in the Fort Washington
Elementary School at Fort
Washington.
Charles M. Preece, who has
had previous teaching exper-
ience in Wyoming Seminary,
Kingston, and the Dallas Senior
High School, will teach mathe-
matics in the senior high. Mr.
Preece, who resides at West
Overbrook Avenue, Dallas, was
graduated from the Pennsyl-
vania State University with a
B.S. degree in the field of
mathematics. While in college,
he participated as a member of
social fraternity, Phi Sigma
Kappa, and in intramural
sports.
He has had experience in all
phases of electronic data
processing while utilizing his
teaching ability giving pre-
sentations, and training com-
puter novices for Univac in
Washington, D.C. and I.B.M. in
New Jersey. He has also had
experience teaching electronic
data processing to administra-
tors and teachers in the Hazle-
ton area.

Gloria L. Whitman, 411
Warren Ave., Kingston, will be
assigned as guidance counselor
in the elementary schools of the
Dallas School District. Mrs.
Whitman, a graduate of
Goucher College, Towson, Md.,
has taken graduate work at
Shippensburg State College. She
holds a B.S. degree with a
major in the fields of psy-
chology and elementary school
counseling.
While in college, Mrs.
Whitman was active in reading,
sewing, bridge, theatre, handi-
crafts, cooking, and civic activ-
ities. She has had previous
teaching experience in the
Pikeside-Inwood School,
Martinsburg, W. Va.
Bonita B. Gipe will teach
kindergarten. A resident at 174
Memorial Highway, Shaver-
town, Miss Gipe graduated
from Averett College and Penn-
sylvania State University with a
B.S. degree in the field of
elementary education. She has
taught elementary education in
the Middletown School District,
and has served as a fulltime
substitute in the Dallas School

Harry T. Hoover, a graduate
from Wilkes College with a B.S.
degree in the field of history,
will be assigned to teach history
in the Dallas Senior High
School. Mr. Hoover, a resident
at 117 W. River St., Wilkes-
Barre, participated in several
extra-curricular activities
while in college, including var-
sity football, lacross, dormitory
resident assistant, Lettermen’s
Club, and faculty athletic
committee.

Becky B. Shuster, Dallas, will
teach physical education in the
Dallas Junior High School. Mrs.
Shuster, who has served as a
fulltime substitute in the Dallas
School District for two years,
has also had previous teaching
experience in the Maret School,
Washington, D.C., and the Gate
of Heaven School, Dallas. She is
a graduate of the American
University, Washington, D.C.
and East Stroudsburg State Col-
lege, and holds a B.S. degree
with a major in the fields of
philosophy and physical educa-
culty in Dallas Distri
tion, and a minor in the field of
English. While in college, Mrs.
Shuster was active in the stu-
dent
music, athletics,
staff of the school newspaper.

and on the
Glenda W. Crabtree will teach
sixth grade in the Dallas
Elementary School. She was
graduated from Tift College,
Forsyth, Ga., with a B.S. degree
in the field of elementary edu-
cation. While in college, Mrs.
Crabtree was active in the
Alumnae Organization, N.E.A.,
and Upson County
Teachers Association. Mrs.
Crabtree, who resides at High-
land Drive, New Goss Manor,
Dallas, has had experience in
Spaulding Junior High School,
Griffin, Ga.; the Zebulon Ele-
mentary School, Zebulon, Ga.;
the Atwater Elementary
School, Thomaston, Ga.; and
the Dallas School District.
Richard R. Rusnak, 484 Main
St., Edwardsville, will teach
instrumental and general music
in the Dallas Elementary
Schools. Mr. Rusnak is a
graduate of Wilkes College with
a B.S. degree in the field of
music education. While in
college, he was active in the
band, Circle K Club, and sports.
Dallas Senior High Lists Coaching Staff
Directors of athletics have
been appointed for the junior
and senior high schools of
Dallas School District. Gerald
J. Stinson will head athletic
activities at Dallas Senior High
School and Edward A. Brom-
inski is director at Dallas Junior
High School.
The football coaching staff at
the senior school is as follows:
