    ‘A mobile display of custo-
mized high performance cars
‘and parts will be exhibited at
Howard ‘‘Duke” Isaacs, 163 S.
Memorial Hwy., Trucksville,
May 17 and 18, from 9 a.m. until
closing. Plymouth’s Rapid
Transit Caravan, on a coast-to-
coast tour of the United States,
will feature four Plymouth
models whose bodies have been
- altered and decorated by some
-of the nation’s top performance
customizing shops.
The customized cars in the
caravan are: A replica of drag
racing champion Don Prud-
homme’s funny car, a 1971 Ply-
mouth Barracuda, with a super-
charged and injected hemi
engine that puts out more than
1,500 horsepower;
A 1971 Road Runner that
features a recessed hood and
“deck lid as well as a vibrant

A ’Cuda 440 which is the most
extensively altered vehicle of
the four vehicles exhibited in
the caravan;
A Duster 340 which has been
re-styled to include a rolled-
under front pan and a unique
spoiler built into the rear of the
roof line.
Also included in the mobile
Caravan are two cut-away
performance engines and a dis-
play board of performance
parts. There is a 27-minute
movie on the history of drag
racing which highlights Ply-
mouth’s drag racing accom-
plishments.
The caravan is described as a
customized interpretation of the
Plymouth Rapid Transit Sys-
tem. Included in the single
exhibit are all the elements of
the program, which consists of

Voter Phone to
Answer Queries
- The League of Women Voters
of Wilkes-Barre Area an-
nounces the installation of a
special telephone line, 829-009,
designed to answer voter ques-
tions about the forthcoming
May Primary Elections.
~ League members will be pre-
pared to supply anSwers re-
garding absentee balloting,
voting procedures, and non-par-
tisan candidate information.
~ This project, which makes
voter information as close as
ones telephone, was initiated in
the 1970 General Election. The
special number will be manned
from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from now
through Election Day, May 18.
TRUCKSVILLE
Dr. L.E. Jordan, Carverton
Road, will serve again this year
as auctioneer for the 25th an-
nual Back Mountain Memorial
Library auction. The event will
be held at the Risley Barn in
Dallas, July 9, 10, and 11.
Jean Spears, Carverton Road,
is president of Back Mountain
Federated Democratic
Women’s Club. The club recent-
ly held its meeting at WaHoo
Inn, Harveys Lake. Mrs. Spears
presided.
WSCS of Trucksville United
Methodist Church met in the ed-
ucational building Tuesday
evening. The speaker of the
evening was Mario Menezos, an
exchange student from South
America. Mario is now a
student at Wilkes College. The
group plans to serve meals on
election day, May 18, in the
municipal = building. Mrs.
George Gaylord heads the com-
mittee.

Road, celebrates his birthday
today. Byron is employed by
Commonwealth Telephone
Company in Dallas.

The caravan travels in a
huge, specially constructed
bright yellow trailer which has
been brilliantly decorated with
Plymouth’s colorful Rapid
Transit System logos. The four
cars and two display engines it
carries are capable of gener-
ating a combined horsepower of
more than 3,400.
Crew of the caravan consists
of two men, who describe the
performance capabilities, body
customizing, and paint techni-
ques used on the cars. They
have complete information on
the availability and use of spec-
ial high-performance parts.
