In the George Shupp League,
Wilkes-Barre Truck held their
slim one point lead over Wood-
land Inn when they dropped 3
points to Daring’s Market. H.
Haefele was big gun for the
leaders as he smashed out a
double 235 (634). R. Bonomo Jr.
gave him help with 557.
Daring’s D. Eddy led the
market men with 223 (584) as-
sisted by A. Denmon Jr.'s 220
(568). Bill’s Cafe trounced
Woodland for 3 points to come
within two games of the league
leaders. A Kardell hit high for
the cafe men with 209 and T.
Kostrebala’s 224 was high for
the Inn men.
Boston’s picked up 3 points
from Mahaffey Oil while Ranch
Wagon whitewashed Harris As-
sociates 4-0 with Price hitting
224 (608) followed by Williams’
213 (576), E. Roberts 205 (564),
Cross’ 209 (563) and C. Roberts’
201. Sg Bonomo registered 203
for the" Associates.
Mike’s Eelctric made it 3
points over Stanton’s T.V. as
Rudick racked up 228 (572) and
Molley came up with 202 (564).
Garris added a 200 to help take
the first game. The TV men had
Hazinski’s 217 (576) and
Kocher’s 255 (567).
L. Williams’ 209 helped Stan-
ton’s TV take 3 points from
Besecker’s Real Estate in the
Community Service League in
spite of A. Coury’s spilling the
pins # a terrific 214-223-252
(689)F Automatic blanked
Roberts Gulf while Roth’s
Jewelry were picking up 3
points Rom Boyd White Appli-
ance.
F Allabaugh’s 510 was high
for the night as she led Pargas
to a clean sweep over Fashion
Vending in the Ladies Country
League. A. Hospodar was high
for the vendors (469).
K. Sharpe’s 461, L. Cyphers’
180 (461) and A. Corbett’s 186
led league-leading Brothers 4 to
a 3 point win over Daring’s
Market. J. Bolinski paced the
grocer’s girls with 181-170 (497).
Nelson’s climbed out of the
cellar by splitting 2-2 with Joe’s
Pizza. M. Eisenhower paced the
manufacturers with 464.
BostcWs Texaco dropped 4
points to Hurst Supplies in the
Industrial League but kept
their lead by one game. Second
place «illo “66” took 3
points from Kunkle Motors and
Daring’s Market earned 3 from
McCreary Tire. Like their
fellow teams, Hanson’s ‘had
trouble registering high scores
as they picked up 3 points from
Hoppy’s Cafe.
The Church League’s Trucks-
ville A held their six game lead
as they picked up 3 points from
Trucksville C. The “C’’ team’s
H. Long hit 224 and F. Price 206
but it was enough for only 1
point. Shavertown B continued
to win ky taking 3 points from
Dallas i» Newhart scored 216
to lead the way in the first
game. Dallas A shut out
Trucksville B to take sole pos-
ession Af third place. High
games OF 233 by J. Berti and 210
were tops for the Dallas men.
Other high scores for the night
were W. Thomas 248, T. Wilson
215, F. Hopkins 205, W. Piatt
204, M. Evans 207, J. Swingle
201.

the Neighborhood League as
they took 3 points from Fino’s
Pharmacy. They took the first
game by a slim 3 pins. High

Tom Reese’s girls remained
in the lead in Bowlerette
League as they picked up 3
points from Monk Plumbing
and Heating. Second place
Trucksville Pharmacy took 3
points from Duke Isaacs. S.
Riegel’s 162.-166-168 (496) was
high for the night. Other top
scorer was K. Kalafsky, 181.
The race between the top
teams in the Imperialette
League remains close and in-
teresting as the teams go up and
down. This past week O’Malia
took 4 points from Dallas Dairy
to move into the first place lead
of two games over E.M.
Shepherd. Captain B. Bonning
hit a new high series of 563 (191-
180-191). She had help from T.
Denmon’s 174.
Fitch girls whitewashed
Goodman Florist and set a new
record high of 829 for high game
of the season. High games
turned in were T. Russell 170-
172 (479), C. Shonk 199 (478) J.
Bicking 180 (477), J. Meyers 181,
and B. Roan 160. Shepherd
dropped 3 points to Apex Used
Auto Parts with J. Agnew,
Apex, leading the way for both
teams with 450.
Shavertown Lumber contin-
ued their lead in the Crown
Majors as they split 2-2 with
Monk Plumbing and Heating. D
Zimmerman’s 235-224 (643) was
high for the night and
led the men in taking two
games. D Purvin gave him help
with 214 and G. Harris with 217.
Monk’s E. Lamoreux hit the
pins for 225 (580) followed by G.
Shonk’s 212-201 (557) and H.
Bennett's 218.
Joe Kubek fired 267 (605) for
Gebhardt’s as they handed a 4-0
shut out to Dallas Post. K.
Youngblood’s 226 (567) and G.
Chepalonis’ 204 (553) helped
pick up the shutout. High for the
newspaper team was Rich
Bonomo’s 203 (579).
West Side Novelty trimmed
Wesley’s Gulf Service for 4
points as C. Williams scored 205
(558) and J. Lerch came up with
210 and V. Barrouk 206. S.
Bonomo hit the maples for a
walloping 221-228 (618) but it did
no good as his team mates were
unable to connect to give him
help.
Dallas Shopping Center and
Automatic Vending split 2-2 on
lanes 15 and 16. C. Molley came
through with 225 (572) and T.
Hazinski 203 (567). They had
help from E. Havrilla with 510.
St. Paul Brotherhood’s stand-
ings are still a mystery to us but
we do know that the Falcons
blanked the Mustangs; the
Squirrels picked up 3 points
from the Hawks; and the
Pussycats and Rabbits split 2-2.
P. Culp’s 545 was high for the
night followed by G. Shonk’s 204
(532) and O. Smith’s 528. Other
high scorers were J. Titus 195,
M. Morris 196, and C. Dungey’s

Dallas girl cagers {
see Globetrotters
It was a cold, windy, snowy
afternoon in March when the
Dallas Senior High School girls’
basketball team boarded a bus |
for the trip to see the world-
renown Harlem Globetrotters in
Philadelphia. Along with their
coach, Jane Millin, the girls
stopped at Howard Johnsons’
where they devoured platters of
fried clams and orders of hot
fudge sundaes.
At the Spectrum, they en-
joyed the Globetrotters play
their fantastic game of ‘“‘basket-

Awards and letters were pre-
sented to 14 varsity and 18 jun-
ior varsity basketball players
and 11 cheerleaders after a
buffet supper sponsored by
Gate of Heaven Holy Name
Society. Tommy Kupstas re-
ceived a special award for being
chosen the outstanding player.
