The win was the fifth of the second half for the Mountaineers against no losses. The game, which was played before a capacity crowd at the Plains gym, was close all the way with neither team gaining more than a 6 point advantage. Plains led 23-20 at the end of the first quarter and retained a 3 point lead at half 41-38. Dallas rallied in the third quarter and managed to build a 5 point lead by midway through the period. They held a 2 point lead going fl into the final period, 62-60 Plains rallied and gained the advantage by 3 in the closing period and, with four Dallas players on the bench with five personal fouls, it looked as if Plains would upset the Moun- taineers for the second time this year. With less than 15 seconds left on the clock and Dallas trailing by 1, Tony Fannick grabbed a rebound, raced the length of the floor and threw in a 20 foot shot to give Dallas the final lead, 77- 76. A shot by Gene Fischi with only one second on the clock narrowly missed. Tony Fannick ended up with 29 on 14 field goals and one foul shot, and was followed by Chip Hoffecker with 18, and Brad Hochhalter with 12. Gene Fischi collected 35 to lead all scorers. Plains and Wyoming Seminary regained a chance at the Wyoming League B Division title last Friday as Seminary defeated Dallas by 1 point and threw the division into a three- way tie, with all three teams holding a 5 to 1 record. Dallas appeared to be in control as they led 13-6 at the end of the first quarter but Sem rallied with an explosive 21 point second quarter perform- ance to bring them within 3 of the first half champs, 30-27 Ed Labatch hit some long shots through the first half to lead the Mountaineers: into the locker room with 10. Seminary maintained the momentum which they had gained in the first half and out- scored the Mountaineers 14-10 in the third quarter and took the lead for the first time of the evening, 41-40. Loftus came alive in the Ed Labatch (40) Dallas, shoots over the head of his Seminary opponent in last week’s game which ended as a heartbreaker for the Mounts when they lost by 1 point.
