Dallas Senior High School
track team, under the coaching
of Clinton Brobst, emerged as’
champions of Class B in District
2, May 15. Dallas scored 1281»
points. Dunmore was next with
83, Lake-Lehman 42, Crest-
wood, 13», Old Forge and
_Forest City, 0.
Scoring in first place for Dal-
las were Bill Yarnal, 220 yard
dash; Jim Wilson, Frank Sum-
ma, Steve Goode and Ken
Engler, 880 yard relay; Carl
Switzer, high hurdles; Roger -
Howell, shot put; Roger Howell,
javelin; Bruce Young, discus; ’
Fred Adams, pole vault; Bob,
Wallace, high jump; Frank
Summa, long jump, and Clark.
Switzer, triple jump.
Fred Adams set a new district
record in the pole vault of 11
feet, 5 inches.
Daas had men in second
place’ in ten events, and took
seven third places. They scored
for fourth place in three events
and three in fifth. |
The boys who will participate
in the State Meet at Penn State
University May 23 are: Jim
Wilson, Bill Yarnal, Doug
Schooley, Frank Summa, Steve
Goode, Ken Engler, Clark Swit-
zer, Doug Hess, Roger Howell,
Bruce Young, Rick Samanas,
Fred Adams, Gary Alters, Bob
Wallace and Ernie Gelb.

The Dallas Junior High
Schofly choral groups will pre-
sent. a spring concert in the re-
cently dedicated junior high
schogl auditorium June 5 at 7:45
p.mTYApproximately 135 stu-
dents which make up four dif-
ferent choruses will be included
in the concert, performing both
separately and in combination.
The groups are under the dir-
ection of Marie L. Lewis, choral
director.
Season
The officers and managers of
Back Mountain Baseball for
Boys were pleased with the
participation in the opening day
ceremonies last week. Even
though the weather was not
ideal, a full schedule of four
games was played.
Westmoreland defeated
Dallas Dairy 6-5 with Davis
picking up the win. T. Miller
had a grand slam home run in
the first inning for Dairy.
Fernbrook and Lehman
played eight innings with Leh-
man-Jackson emerging the
victor by a score of 5-4. Lehman
scored the winning run on a
bunt. Yanchick was the winner
in relief of Zeilen. Loser was
Shutz in relief of Scammer.
Dallas Rotary defeated
. Dallas Suburban by a score of 2-

up one run. Reaban was the
winner in relief and Stevans
was the loser. Rotary catcher,
Smith, had three hits for the
winners.
In the last game, Trucksville,
won over Shavertown by a score
of 4-2. Rose, the winner, and
Zumchek, the loser, in six
frames. Supulski homered for
Trucksville to break a 2-2 tie in
the fourth inning.
After the first week of play,
Westmoreland, Lehman-Jack-
son, Dallas Rotary and Trucks-
ville are tied for first place.
The Dallas track team, District 2, Class B, champs, are pictured
above.
