LAKE-LEHMAN MENU Elizabeth Zbick Rita Post Debbie Rinken Lake-Lehman girls honored Four Lake-Lehman High School senior girls were intro- duced by Mrs. Raymond Garin- ger, education chairman, to members of the Harveys Lake Women’s Service Club last week as recipients of special honors awarded by the club. Gifts were presented to Betty Zbick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zbick; Rita Post, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pest; Barbara Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jennie Hill and Debbie Rinken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Rinken. The girls were chosen for their outstanding achievements in school, home, church and community. The club has honored eight senior girls this year. The Rev. Silas Gearhart, pastor of the First English Church of Nanticoke, offered congratulations to the girls and commended the club for the fine work they are doing. Three candidates were chosen from homerooms and approved by an election com- mittee: Each candidate presented a nomination speech to: the student body. The nominees were: president, Steve Goode, Cathy Wilson, and Herman Otto; vice president, Ed Riefenstahl, Jay Miller, and Priscilla Kloeber; secretary, Sue Neilson, Holly Phillips, and John Woychick. Future Teachers of America visit school Thirteen members of the Future Teachers of America with their advisor, Catherine Wega, visited the Roosevelt School for the Physically Handicapped last Wednesday in Swoyersville. The future teachers observed the 25 chil- dren who attend the special school. They observed them under classroom conditions and while they underwent physical therapy. Music Activities Dal-Hi chorus, under the direction of Florence Sherwood, .is involved in final rehearsals for its annual spring concert to be presented April 30 and May 1 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. French contest The National French Contest was administered to French students at King’s College April 11. The test was composed of both oral and written parts and included grammar, reading comprehension, and French culture. The test was taken by seniors Doris Sims, Elaine Kuehn, and Susan Dexter, and juniors Glenda Larson and Mary Cully. Helen M. Sliker is the French teacher. Junior news Last Thursday the juniors were measured for their class rings which will arrive before the school term ends. The rings are of a new style this year—the collegiate type of ring. A committee composed of both students and faculty members has been meeting periodically throughout the year and decided upon the new rings which seem to satisfy most of the student body. The committees for the an- nual junior-senior prom have been organized and are working diligently to make this year’s prom the best yet. The theme committee is especially active at the present.
