Girl Scout leaders
hold spring meeting
The spring meeting of Com-
munity Association VII Penn’s
Woods Girl Scouts was held
March 11 at Shavertown United
Methodist Church. Thirty-five
leaders and assistant leaders
were present to hear reports
given by Mrs. Rutherford Co-
oper, director of Neighborhood
I, and Mrs. Elwood Swingle,
director of Neighborhood II.
Mrs. J. M. Robinson Jr., Com-
munity Association chairman
presided. —
Announcement was made .of
a senior conference to be held
at Camp Onawandah May 8,
9, and 10 and a Basic Troop
Camp Course to be given April
8 at Camp Louise. Questions
concerning the events or the
first aid course scheduled to
start April 7 should be referred
to Gladys Masoner.
At the conclusion of the meet-
ing, service pins were awarded ~
to: Martha Bradbury, Stella
Bulford, Mrs. Robert Engler,
Mrs. William Johns, Helen
Parker, Mrs. Robert Stair, five
years; Mrs. Harry Crawford,
10 years; Agnes Gregson, 15
years; Mrs. Stefan Hellersperk,
20 years; Mrs. C. Wesley Boyle
and Mrs. Earnest Norrie, 35
years, and Mrs. W. Martin
Porter, 45 years.
Scout pins were awarded to
26 new Girl Scout and Brownie
Trogp leaders, at a dedication
‘ceremony conducted by the
neighborhood directors. They

Niedermeyer, Diane Letteer,
Ruth Federici, Debie Mac-
Derment, Betty Heist, Rose-

Idetown, had as guests last
weekend Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Boice of Harrisburg, and Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Moyer and
Connie, Outlet. Mrs. Moyer
Dallas Township police re-
ported a one-car accident
March 16 at 6:25 a.m. on Over-
brook Road in the vicinity of
the Overbrook Inn.
Police said a vehicle being
driven east by Thomas O’Brien,
118 Hemlock St., Wilkes-Barre,
slid on the ice and ran off
the side of the road striking
a utility pole. Mr. O’Brien,
who recently moved to RD 3,
Dallas, was reported to have
has since been admitted to the
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital as
a surgical patient.

The Harveys Lake Woman's
Service Club named the win-
ners of the sewing and art
contest at Lake-Lehman High
School last week in time for
the contestants to enter the
district contest in Palmerton
the following weekend. Navy
slacks and tunic with matching
coat won the first prize for
Joan Evans in the sewing com-
petition. John Mehal won the
top award in the art contest
with his abstract of a milkweed
pod.
Jean Moledor was chairman
of the contest which is held
annually in the Lake-Lehman
school by the Lake Club.
Miss Evans is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Evans,
RD 4, Dallas. John is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Har-
vey, Stull Road, Noxen.
Both students represented
the Lake Club at Palmerton
March 7.

by the board, but her request

west team for the annual
Unico all-star football game in
August. Approval was granted
for use of the football field
from July 29 to Aug. 13, 6:30
to 8:30, nightly.
Three coaches, Oliver, Nar-
kiewicz and Jenkins were
granted permission by the
board to attend a football
March 20-22.
Albert G. Allen and Edward
Jeffrey were hired as custo-
dians.
Approval was granted for a
bus turnabout at the Fish Com-
mission Building and the stop
