Annual Bundle Day
Set For December 5-9
The 25th Annual Bundle Day
Program of Save the Children Fed-
eration will be conducted in the
schools of the Dallas School Dis-
trict on Monday through Friday,
December 5-9.
Wearable clothing, in clean con-
dition, should be brought to the
schools on the above dates. There
is a special need for footwear, blue
jeans and jackets.
Needy families living in the area
served by this school district will
receive clothing first. The remain-
ing clothing will be distributed to
less fortunate children in the United
States and abroad.
Nature Hike
Den 7, Cub Pack, 155, enjoyed
a nature hike on Monday after
school. The group gathered pine
cones which they will use at Christ-
mas time. Jack Truscott is leader.
Howard Whitesell Is Honored
the annual dinner-dance of the Aux-
iliary of the Home Builders Asso-
ciation of which Mrs. Tippett is
president. Whitesell and Shorts are
past presidents of the association
which has been enlarged from the
Luzerne County unit to include all
of northeast Pennsylvania from
Stroudsburg to Bloomsburg.
Among the guests at the annual
dinner-dance of the Auxiliary of the
Home Builders Association, North-
eastern Pennsylvania were a num-
ber of Back Mountain area resi-
dents, including Mr. and Mrs.
Edward J. McGuire, Hillcrest
Drive, New Goss Manor, Dallas;
Atty. and Mrs. Lewis R. Cris-
man, Loyalville; Mr. and Mrs. Ken-
neth Herwig, Westmoreland Hills,
Trucksville; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Wood, Kingston, and Mr. and Mrs.
Durland Daron, Overbrook Avenue,
Dallas Township.
Mr. McGuire is president of the
Greater Wilkes-Barre Real Estate
Board and is serving his second
consecutive term. Mr. Wood is co-
developer of Westmoreland Hills
with Robert S. Tippett.

Signs of Christmas
Signs of the nearing (Christmas
season fill the school with the
direction of Miss Jane Morris. The
art department and Mrs. Jane Cor-
nell have displayed many colorful
decorations and the senior and jun-
ior high Christmas Assemblies are
in preparation. The Brass Choir,
under direction of Mr. John Miliaus-
kas, is rehearsing its annual
Christmas program.
Basketball and Wrestling
The first basketball game of the
season will be played on December
2, at Benton. Basketball coaches
are Mr. Leonard Thresten and Mr.
Kenneth Maciak.
The initial wrestling meet of the
season will take place on December
-4. It is an away game to be played
at Tunkhannock. The wrestling
coach is Mr. John Oliver.
Band Banquet
The annual Band Banquet will
be held December the 6, at the
Jackson Fire Hall. This yearly event
is sponsored by the Band Parents
Association. Reservations are to be
made with Mrs. Reed or Mrs. Ker-
nag.
Joint Assembly
A joint assembly for both senior
and junior high was held on Tues-
day, November 22. Performing was
the Wilkes College Band.

Lehman High School Band won at
the Veterans Day Parade in Wilkes-'
Barre was presented by Mr. David
Schooley, Vice President of the Bos-
ton Store. The trophy will be on
display in the trophy case in the
main lobby.
Airman Ronald Fink
Aviation Machinist's Mate-Airman
Ronald E. Fink, USN, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ronald Fink of 29 Pop-
lar Street, Route 2, Dallas, is now
serving on active duty at the Naval
Air Station, Patuxent River,
It is the site of the U. S. gh
Air Test Center where the Navy's
newest high performance aircraft
and related systems.are put through
grueling flight, service, and weap-
ons systems tests. Situated here,
too, is the U. S. Naval Test Pilot
School, through whose portals such
well-known airmen as Glenn, Shep-
ard, Carpenter, and Schirra of the
original astronauts have passed.
