DALLAS, PENNSYLVANIA
DONT BLAME THE DOCTORS
by Mrs. Fredric W. Anderson
The ever present hazard of drunken drivers upon
our highways calls for drastic action not by the munici-
palities nor the medical forces of each community but
by the legislators who shape the policies to be followed
through by our local law enforcement agencies.
‘No one can blame the doctors for washing their
| hands of the whole dirty mess which begins when the
intoxicated individuals are first brought into their offices.
The medical profession is up to its ears in trying to
treat the increasing number of cases needing their atten-
tion, its rolls skyrocketing through the tension : packed
era in which we live and the increased benefits offered
by health insurance plans. The doctor of today has little
| time for relaxation, family or other interests.
The main objection of these highly skilled men is
not so much the examination of the inebriated individual
at any or all hours but the loss of valuable time in the
purts when the case is brought before the presiding
magistrate.
Here, attorneys bent on an acquittal, harass and
badger the physician in an effort to prove that he has
erred in his judgment. A good doctor has no stomach
for such an experience. And who can blame him when
his thoughts are undoubtedly on a desperately ill patient
who needs his services far more.
It is about time that our state governing bodies do
something to remedy the existing condition.
A physician's certificate should be ample evidence
/ in any courtroom and the doctors would be more than
willing to cooperate if their time was not to be bartered
for an appearance at a carnival of wits, in behalf of some
character, who cares little if he transgresses upon the
rights and well-being of his fellow citizens.

Beat down
heating costs two ways
First, a revolutionary new invention for oil burn-
ers, the Gulf Solar Heat ECONOJET, beats
down costs by giving you more heat from less
oil.
Secondly, Gulf Solar Heat® drives down heat-
ing costs because it's scrubbed clean with hy-
‘drogen to burn hotter—cleaner and more com-
pletely. It goes further, yet costs no more.

That's a fair question. But not an easy one to answer because we have our own quality
standards, different from any other meat merchant.
These standards don’t fit exactly the familiar terms you know for grades of meat. As
an example, did you know that some beef, graded U.S. Choice, just doesn’t meet our
“Super-Right” specifications? It’s true! You see...we don’t buy by grade. We use
our own high standards to bring you the best values.
That doesn’t mean we don’t approve of such grading —not at all. It just means we're
very fussy about the beef we label “Super-Right.” It stands to reason we have to be or
