end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Vern Pritchard, Maple Street.
Airman Second Class and Mrs.
Dale Culver and infant son, Michael
Dale, Goldsboro, N. C., spent the
weekend with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lawton Culver, Carverton
Road. Airman Culver is stationed |
at Seymour-Johnson Air Force Base.
Mrs. Herbert R. Williams, Hill
Street, has returned home from a,
visit with her daughter, Mrs.
Charles Fulmer, Philadelphia.
Mrs. Lansford Norris, Chase Road,
entertained her card club on Tues-
day evening. Guests were: Mes-
dames Lynn Ashworth, Fred Case,
Jeonard Ide, Lewis Ide, Thomas
iliams, and the hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kelly,
Springfield, who were guests of his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. William Kelly and family,
- Limewood Road, were detained four
days by the snow storm of three
weeks ago.
Mrs. Florence C. Finney, Carver-
ton Road, is a surgical patient in
Nesbitt Hospital.
Auxiliary to Trucksville Fire

George Lemmon, Sewell, N. J,
came here on Thursday to attend
the funeral of his late brother, W.
LeRoy Lemmon.
Girl Scout Troop 630 met in the
Trucksville Methodist Church on
Monday, February 14. A wvalentine
party was held in conjunction with
the meeting.
Betsy Welker, daughter of Mrs.
John Welker, Highland Avenue, is
enrolled as a candidate for her
Masters degree at Temple Uni-
versity.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Snowdon Jr.
and family, Highland Avenue, left
Wednesday by plane for Pompano,
Fla., where they will spend some
time.
Asher Weiss, Oak Stree, is con-
valescing at his home from an ill-
ness. \
On February 19, the residents of
Jackson joined in a ‘common en-
deavor. At 3 p.m. the firemen with
their officers had a small ceremony
in front of- the fire hall, President
Richard Holodick presenting a check
for the new fire truck to Charles
intz, resident of Jackson and
wher of Ford Motor Twins. Pres-
ent at the mid-afternoon presenta-
tion were Frederick Dingle, Presi-
dent of the First National Bank of
Wilkes-Barre; Willard Wright Sr.
and Fred Fielding; Trustees of the
le company; Donald Jones, As-
sistant Fire Chief; Steve Krupinski,
Vice President; Robert Cooper, Sec-
retary, and the following firemen: |
Frank Fabian, Bert Balliet and Paul
Snyder. The Ladies Auxiliary was
represented by Mary Ashton and
Freda Snyder. Leighton Scott of the |
Dallas Post ‘took pictures. Behind |
the scene, Mr. Frantz presented the |
firemen with his generous donation |
to the drive.
At 6:30, the annual Firemen and! Euphemia Faltwalter received
Auxiliary Banquet was held. Ninety-
six people were on hand to hear |
an excellent speech by the honor- |
able Judge Bernard Brominski, The
topic of the Judge's speech was “the
ten sins of citizenship.” All present
were greatly impressed and if a pin
were dropped it would have been
heard. This, of course was also ac-
companied by the Judge's great
sense of humor.
In his welcoming address, Pres-
ident Holodick asked for more ac-
tive participation and thanked the
residents of the township for their
generous support in ‘the drive for
the new fire truck.
Fireman Gerald Bernstein, CPA,
‘vgs called on to give his personal
ws of a “city boy” (being born
and raised in Newark, N.J., and his
' first experiences in a small town,
; most hilarious being his first
ire and his first square dance. Mr.
Bernstein then introduced the Guest
Speaker, Judge Brominski, giving a
resume of the judge's past. Incident-
ly, the judge is a member of the
Swoyersville Volunteer Fire Co.

All in all, Saturday, February 19,
was a triumphant day for the res-
idents of Jackson Twp. It helped
to show that our small community
is united in a common effort to
move ahead.
On February 18, the board of su-
_pervisors held a special meeting to
adopt the new zoning laws. Appoint-
ed were three adjusters: John Field-
ing, 1 yr.; Ed Mark, 2 yr.; Walter
Glogowski, 3 yr. Chief of Police,
Bob [Cooper was appointed as zon-
ing officer. This is a one-year ap-
pointment and the supervisors ex-
plained that it would be the duty

moving ahead of B. C who played

Last Sunday, Chief Dale Wright
held the first of his instructional
classes on operating the new fire
truck. It proved to be very success-
ful. The men had the opportunity
to ‘drive the new truck and handle
the apparatus. A fire was built so
that the men would have the op-
portunity to use the high pressure
hose and get the feel of it. This will
continue every Sunday afternoon,
weather permitting.
The. Cub Scouts will hold their
annual Blue and Gold Banquet at
the Fire Hall tonight at 6:30 p.m.
A covered dish supper will be
served.

its annual Blue and Gold Dinner
(Father and Son) at the Lehman
Methodist Church on Feb. 28 at
6:30 p.m.
