dinner on Sunday.
Honored At Shower

day afternoon at Shavertown Meth-
odist Church.

returned home last week after

On the way down they had to stay
over in Virginia due to the heavy
snowfall which curtailed travel.

Observe 58th Anniversary
Mr .and Mrs. John Newell cele-
brated their 58th anniversary on
Valentine’s Day.
The couple were married at
! Noxen and have resided there most
of their life. Mrs. Newell is the
former Mina Long, Lemmon. Her
; husband was born at Thornhurst,
but came to Noxen at an early age.
They are the parents of five chil-
dren, Mrs. Carl Siglin, Mrs. Bernard
Mulligan, Mrs. Clarence Dailey, Roy
Newell and Mrs. Doris LaBar. All
reside in Noxen but Mrs. Dailey,
who lives at Tunkhannock. There
are also 17 grandchildren and 13
great grandchildren.
Mr. Newell, who is now retired,
was former Road Supervisor of Wy-
oming County. He also engaged in
farming and lumbering.

dependent Bible Church, Noxen.

Miss Eck, who is left handed will

Mrs. Alfred Rogers, Harveys Lake
writes that she is enjoying the
various species of wildlife appearing
in her back yard each day.
She has seen thus far red and
grey squirrels, Pheasants, bluejays,
woodpeckers, cardinals, chickadees,
sparrows and a phoebe bird. Just
the other day she was delighted to
see a fat red breasted robin and
a little winter wren in her hemlock
tree.
Mrs.Rogers feeds the wisitors par-
ings of fruits and vegetables and |
tidbits” from her table. She says
the results are well worth the effort.
