An’ enjoyable Christmas Concert
was : presented by the Dallas: Wo-
Church.
The Chorale was under the direc-
tion of Mrs. William Carroll with
Mrs. Davis Carey as the accom-
panist.
Mrs. Evan Bonawitz, Junior Music
Chairman,: annuonced the following
numbers which were sung: “Christ-
mas Gloria”, “The Christ Child”,
“The Shepards Story”, “Bethlehem”,
“Christmas Roundaley”, and “Mr.
Santa’. Program ended with every-
one singing “Silent Night’.
Gifts were exchanged and refresh-
ments served from an attractive
Christmas Tea Table of silver and
and crystal.
A short . meeting preceded the
program with Mrs. Boyd R. White,
presiding. Mrs. Verne Groff read an
inspring poem, “These Things Shall
Live”, to open the meeting.
Mrs. Howard Wiley gave a de-
tailed report on the Card Party and
Fashion Show held recently and
Welfare ‘Chairman, Mrs. Ralph
Dixon, reported that a Thanksgiv-
ing basket had been delivered.
Mrs. Fred Eck, Chairman of the
Scholarship Loan Committee, an-
nounced that another request for a
Student Loan had been granted.
Mrs. Ralph Fitch, Music Chairman,
extended an invitation to members
to join the Chorale and stated that
the group would be heard on WILK
Radio on December 16th at 12:30
P.M. 1
Mrs. Leonard Cowett, Program
Chairman, announced the program
for the January meeting will be
presented by a hair stylist and a
fashion show will also be part of
the program.

to this country from England ten |
years ago, interpreted the play for
‘a delighted audience. Her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. David Scott from
Birmingham, are her guests.

Christmag carols, while the mem-
bers sang old favorites.

Son Is Born
A seven pound, six ounce son,
Mark Andrew, was born to Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Roberts, Dallas, RD 1,
December 8, at General Hospital.
There are two other sons, Jackie,
eight and Bobby, four. Mrs. Roberts
is the former Dorothy Race, Dallas.

Dallas Junior Women Aid Needy,
Retreat Patients, Ship “Hope”
~ Amidst a holiday setting of min-
iature reinder and red and green
elves, Dallas Junior Woman's Club
inducted six new members at their
Christmas Dinner meeting held re-
cently at Aldino’s Manor
The new members, Mrs. William
Kelly, Mrs. Robert Kirchner, Mrs.
Calvin Myers, Mrs. Robert Richards,
| Mrs. Kay Williams and Mrs. Gun-
i ther Van Elden were inducted by
Mrs. Joseph Morton, membership
chairman. Each new member was
asked to light a candle symbolizing
the kindling of her spirit and loyalty
to the club and repeat the Club
pledge.
During the brief business meet-
ing, Mrs. Merton Jones, president,
called upon the Welfare Chairman,
Mrs. Barbara Bartolocci who re-
ported that the club had given each
of the women in their adopted cot-
tage at Retreat a gift of stockings
at Thanksgiving time. For Christ-
mas, the Welfare Committee have
prepared cosmetic bags for the wo-
men of Maple Cottage, Retreat State !
Hospital and will also give each a!
box of candy. Mrs. Bartolocci an-
nounced the Christmas Party for
the patients at Retreat will be held
on Wednesday, December 15. Mem-
bers were asked to help out in serv-
ing and entertaining their guests.
Each patient will receive a gift from
the Club.
Welfare Chairman, Mrs. Ludwig
Pasquini, informed the members
that 500° food items were donated:
by people of the Back Mountain
area,for their Christmas baskets, for
six needy families in the Back Moun-
tain, The Club will add a large ham
to each basket in addition to cook-
[| ies, bread, etc. Each family will al-
so receive a Christmas tree, and
items of clothing and toys for each
member of the family. Mrs. Pasquini
thanked members ag well as all
people of. the Back Mountain for
their generosity. in this endeavor

ed “We are very proud of what

named the Dallas Junior Juniors as
one of the most active Clubs in the
County. She urged attendance at i)
County and District Meetings as
well as State and General Meetings
to broaden the knowledge of mem-
bers concerning General Federation
and the advantages and responsi-
bilities of being a Club member. She
cited the William Penn Museum
in Harrisburg that has been com-
pletely decorated by members of
the Pennsylvania Federation. Other
General Federation projects are the
Congressional Medal of Honor Grove,
Valley Forge, CARE, and the Korean
Village, which the Dallas Jr. Women
support in addition to their local -
projects.
A program of Christmas musi¢
was presented by the Dallas Wo-
men’s Club Chorale under the di-
rection. of Mrs. William Carroll
Their first selection was ‘Christmas
Gloria” followed by ‘The Christ
Child.” “A Christmas Classic.” “The
Shepards’ Story” by Clarence Dick-~
enson, was sung, with solo parts
done by Mrs. Al Turner and Mrs.
Paul Lauer. A folk song, “Bethle-
hem,” and two Fred Waring ar-
rangements, “The Gift of Love”, and
“Christmas © Roundeley were also
given. The entire group then sang
the lively “Mr. Santa” and closed
with the “Little Drummer Boy.”
Guests of the affair were: Mrs. °
Merle ‘Safford, Mrs. Joseph Stach-
nik, Mrs. John Houseman, Mrs John
Rodgers, and Mrs. John Sidorek.
The evening closed with the Dal--
las Trio, Mrs. Joseph Kaminski, Mrs.
Paul Lauer and Mrs. Evan Bonawitz,
singing the “Club Collect,” words
by Mary Stewart and music by Ger-
trude Rohrer. / ;

To Observe 22nd Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Williams,
Susquehanna Avenue, Dallas, will
observe their 22nd anniversary Fri-
day, Dec. 17.
They have one son, Don, who is
stationed with the U. S. Army, in
Fort Rucker, Ala.
The couple was wed in the Welsh
Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre,

Accepts New Position
Clyde A. Faatz, formerly of Brook
Street, Shavertown, and more re-
cently of Zion, Illinois, has accepted
a new position as Manager of Man-
ufacturing with the P. R. Mallory
Corporation of Greencastle, Indiana.
Mr. and Mrs. Faatz have purchas-
ed a new home two miles from the
| city, near De Pauw University and
about 35 miles north of Terre Haute.

Urbana, Illinois and Wayne, who' is
doing graduate work at the Univer-

Arrives To See Son
Sgt. Donald S. Myers recently
arrived from Fort Bliss, El Paso,
Texas, where he is stationed with
the U.S. Army, to see his new: son,
Donald Sampson, Jr., who was born
November 12 at Wyoming Valley
Hospital. The new arrival weighed
in at six pounds, one ounce.
There is also a daughter, Joy
Ellen, who ‘was born in Carlson,
Ark. and was eighteen months on
the eighty sixth birthday of her
great-grandmother, Mrs.
