He was born in Nanticoke, but spent most of his life in this area, employed in the main as a carpen- ter. He retired several years ago. Church affiliations were with Hunlock Creek Methodist. The Kester family is associated in the minds of old-timers with the time-honored but fast vanishing trade of horse shoeing and black- smithing, a trade which flourished before the advent of the automobile, and held its own for decades be- fore the last iron-bound wagon wheel was superseded by the pneu- matic tire. Mr. Kester leaves his widow, Cora Mae; these children: Mrs. George Wildoner and Mrs. Ralph Whitesell, both of Hunlock Creek RD 2; Mrs. Carl Englehart, wife of the Hunlock Creek Postmaster; six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
