of oral surgery for the 5700th Air
Base Wing dispensary, Albrook AFB,
Canal Zone, was guest speaker re-

The meeting, held in the Wash-
ingtem Room of the Panama Hilton,
was ®ettended by 35 dentists from
the Republic of Panama and the
Canal Zone. ”
- Dogtor Marshal, ‘a native of Dal-
las, «. an hour-long presentation
on the subject “Diagnosis in Oral
Surgery.” It marked the first time
in ‘several years that a local Ameri-
can dentist was selected to address
this" distinguished group.
Doctor Marshal took his bachelor
of arts degree from Princeton Uni-
versity in 1951, and his doctorate
of dental surgery from the Univer-
sity of Pennsylvania in 1955. He
served his residency in oral surgery
at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia
and then returned to the University
| of Pennsylvania as an instructor in
oral surgery.
Before coming to the Canal Zone
in September, 1963, Doctor Marshal
was chief of oral surgery at McCoy
AFB and Orlando AFB Hospital,
Florida: {
He is a member of the American
Dental Association and the Penn-
sylvania Dental Society, and is also
program chairman ' for the (Canal
Zone Dental Society.
His wife Nancy, the former Miss
Brader of Dallas, son Jay and
daughter Lisa reside at 4 Birch Hill
Lane, Dallas. He is son of Dr. Je-
rome Marshal of Kunkle Road.

4-H Club competed in the Lehman
Horse Show last Sunday and Mon-
day, winning many prizes.
Connie Bogdon once again led
the group in honors, taking five
firsts, two seconds and one third.
Two of Connie’s firsts came in 4-H
classes. Hunter, Seat Equitation
and English Pleasure. Her other
awards were earned in open com-
petition, including first in Hunter
Hack, and the Pair Class, seconds
in Equitation and Knock Down and
Out, and third in Conformation
Hunter.
Other club members to take firsts
in the show were Cheryl Dietz in
4-H Western Pleasure, Erica Vivian
in Pair Class, Linda Mekeel, Open
Equitation, and Gail Lacy, Costume
Class.
Debby Post was second to Con-
nie in the number of prizes won.
She took a second and a fourth in
4-H classes, two thirds, a fourth,
and two sixths in Open classes.
Class Gail Lacy placed second in
Open Pleasure, took a sixth,
seventh, and eight in three 4-H
‘Classes.
Erica Vivian, who placed first in
the Pair Class, also took a second
in Open Hunter Under Saddle, two
thirds, and an eighth.
Linda Mekeel and Cheryl Dietz,
both of whom took first places,
also won other prizes. Linda took
a second in 4-H Hunt Seat Equi-
tation; Cheryl placed third in 4-H
Western Equitation.
Other local 4-Hers who placed in
the show were Leslie Vivian, a
fourth, fifth, sixth, and eight, Debby
Mekeel, third, sixth, and seventh,
Amy Robinson, 5th and 7th, Susan
Baker 4th and 5th. Bobby Sterling
won a placed 4th, Christy Bedford
a 6th, and Harry Haas a 4th.
The local 4-Hers were competing
against members of the Beach
Haven and Broadway Horse Clubs
in the 4-H classes at Lehman. The
same clubs will be in competition
at the county round-up to be held
this Saturday. Winners in the
county show will compete in the
District Show later in the summer.

The members of the Horseshoe:
Building. 35 Luzerne clubbers gave
demonstrations in the various fields
of 4-H, making it a highly success-
ful day.
Fourteen Back Mountain 4-Hers
competed in the contest, many win-
ning blue ribbons.
Local 4-Hers winning blue ribbons
in the Junior division were Brent
Baker, Dairy, Jennifer Ireland and
Diane Chadwick, Flowers, Evelyn
Scott, Livestock, and Connie Ed-
wards, Home Economics.
Those winning firsts in the Senior
Division were Mike Baker, Dairy,
Pat Holdrege, Public Speaking, and
Debby Rogers, Conservation. These
will go to District Demonstrations
Day July 21, to compete for the
right to go to state.
Others taking prizes were Dave
Baker, red in Dairy, Christine Ken-
nick, Rhonda Moore and Reba
Brody red in Home Economics.

Begins;
Instrumental Classes, Twirling
Summer Band School, sponsored
by Dallas School District, be-
gan on Monday, July 12, continuing
daiy for six weeks.
. Program is open to anyone in the
! community regardless of age or reg-
ular school he or she might attend.
In instrumental instruction there
will be casses for beginners, elemen-
tary players, grade band rehearsals
and high school band rehearsals.
Classes for baton twirlers will be
held for anyone from first grade
on up.
Schedule for classes will be: In-
strumental, Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday, 9:00 Beginners; 10:00
7th to 12th grade band; 11:0 Grade
School band at Westmoreland
School.
At 1, 7th to 12th grade band and
2, Grade School band, at Dallas Bor-
ough School. Baton twirlers will
meet Tuesday and Thursday, Dallas
Junior High, 9, Dallas Elementary
10:30, and Westmoreland at 1.
Instructors for baton will be Su
san Larish, student at Kutztown
State College, and Helen Dugan,
student at Wilkes. Lester Lewis,
band director at Dallas High School,
will teach instrumental and super-
vise the summer program...
At close of this fine program, a
concert will be given, time and place
to be announced. Good ‘attendance
throughout the six weeks will as-
sure quality.
