Commendation Medal
For Lt. Col. G. E. Boyea
The Army Commendation Medal
with Oakleaf Cluster was recently
awarded to Lt. Col. G. E. Boyea,
now Commandant of the (4p Owen
Battalion, ‘7th' Cavalry Division,
Korea.
The citation reads, in part: “While
assigned as Deputy AC of S, G 3,
Headquarters = VIII Army Corps,
Austin, Texas, Lt. Colonel Boyea’s
performance of duty resulted in out-
standing accomplishments of or-
ganization, training, and mobiliza-
tion readiness in the States of Texas
and New Mexico. i
“Throughout the period of serv-
ice, Lt. Col. Boyea was the key in-
dividual in ‘the development and
execution of a strong training pro-
gram encompassing over 200 re
serve units and USAR schools.
Largely through his efforts the VIII
Corps USAR school system was de-
veloped into a model activity. He
pioneered -hard-skill MOS training
in the USAR which was later adopt-
ed by other Corps and Army areas.”
