Mr. Samuels was a member of
the Lehman Township School Au-
thority during the building of the
new school. He was instrumental
in securing funds for the Township
through the Accelerated Federal
Works Program; ‘whereby the Super-
visors were able to build six miles
of new blacktop road. He has been
active in formulating the zoning
laws of the ' Township which far-
sighted citizens recognize as vital
in the planning of the fast growing
Back Mountain communities.
Mr. Samuels instituted the one
mile salt road project, Konigus
Road, Lake Silkworth, which is the
first of its kind in the area and
which has arroused much interest
among road builders. Construction
requires the blading up of the road
and the application of 40 tons of
salt per mile. It.is then mixed ith
water, forming a brine when dry.
Such a road, according to road
building authorities, will outlast all
other types
ways. The experimental one mile
