SHAVERTOWN
ANOTHER ANNIVERSARY
As plans are completed for next
week's celebration at Shavertown
Methodist Church and the congre-
gation marks its 75th anniversary,
another House of God in our com-
munity will also be nearing a mile-
stone in community service.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church will
observe its 40th year of existence
in May of this year and a commit- |
tee is already formulating plans for
the big event.
We are grateful that both have
witnessed a rapid growth in the
work of spreading the Gospel.
Speaking of God's edifices brings |!
to mind a rather pertinent sugges-
tion. Last week the schools of
Forty-Fort were Initiated into a
| new and happy acknowledge of the
| Almighty when a banner with the
words emblazoned, “One Nation
Under God”, was flown with the
flag of our country. How well we
would do to follow suit.
In reading Rev. Gilbert's column
this week, I was so filled withthe
breath of Spring that I decided to
explore among the beds about the
house for some sign of new life and | week's Post sure had sudden. reper-

How much gladness it added to
the day and over the weekend the
robin’s happy song just about as-'
sured me ‘that the most delightful
time of all the year is almost with
us. There is beauty in all the
seasons, the winter with its snowy
mantle, the summer with its bril-
liant sunlight and glorious color in
abundance, the fall with its mag-
nificent hues, but none can quite
match the Springtime with its re-
newal of all life and of hope and
of promise.
The boys and girls are also de-
lighting in the warmer weather and
a new fad which has been sweep-
ing the area is much in evidence.
An unusual sound drew my atten-
tion on Saturday and there were
several of the lads whizzing down
Pioneer Avenue on their new Skate
Boards. Quite a novel idea, a bit)
dangerous I'd say, but the young:
folks are certainly enjoying them-
selves.

Several residents of Fernbrook
have noticed robbins and bluejays
in their yards. These in addition
to their spring plants popping their
heads out of the ground are. sure
signs of spring.

and the gift of a communion glass
filler jar were in memory of Mrs.
Sarah Moss who passed away two
years ago this week.
