B. J. Roushey To Celebrate
85th Birthday On July 3
B. J. Roushey, 113 Main Street,
Dallas, will observe his 85th birth-
day on Friday, July 3.
Born in Dallas Township in 1879,
Mr. Roushey has been a resident
of this area all of his life. He was
the son of the late Oliver and
Sarah White Roushey.
His wife, the former Gwennie
Thomas, Susquehanna County
passed away three years ago.
Mr. Roushey is in good health
and claims he has received a sec-
ond sight, which finds him eagerly
reading all the news that comes
his way. He lives alone and looks |
after his home and his yard.
Formerly employed in the Dal-
Wins Award
las retail milk business, he was
also caretaker of Woodlawn Ceme-
tery for a time. He has done odd
jobs since retiring.

fell from a white orchid.

length gown of gold taffeta. She

held at King’s Inn, Kingston. Guests
were in attendance from New

The new Mrs. Byrne is a graduate
of College Misericordia, Dallas, and
is at present employed as a teacher
of English at Unionville High School,
Unionville, Pa.
Mr. Byrne is a graduate of Rut-
gers University and is employed by
Aetna Insurance Company. k
The couple will reside at West-
view Road, (Cliften Park, Wilming-
ton, Del.,, upon their return from
a honeymoon in New England.

West Coast Tour
My. and Mrs. Richard Rudy, Shag-
bark Drive, Shavertown, have just
returned from a .twd week train
trip to the West Coast.
Wishing to cover a good many
stops in a limited time, the Rudys
decided to go by rail and were
well satisfied with end results, They
left Scranton for Chicago and at
this point joined a tour for the
Western States and Mexico.
Las Vegas was the first stopping
point then on to Tia Juana Mexico,
San Diego, Los Angeles, San Fran-!
cisco and Yosemite Valley. They
toured Knox Berry Farm, Disney-
land and many other scenic high-
lights.
Mrs. Rudy says all accommoda-
| tions were arranged and most sat-
'isfactory with air conditioning all
the way. She reports the tempera-
ture on the West Coast comfort-
able and far less hot than our own

Catherine Gensel makes it this way:
Combine five cups sugar, tall can
of evaporated milk, quarter pound
margarine in a saucepan. Bring to
rolling boil, boil twelve minutes,
take off fire.
Add three small
chocolate Nestle Bits,
ounces of marshmallow whip. Stir
it thoroughly, and when it’s all
melted, pour it into a large flat
pan. Buttered, of course.

Altar and Rosary Society of St.
Therese's Church, Shavertown, held
it’s final meeting of the season on
(June 3, with a covered dish sup-
| per preceding the meeting. Rev.
Father Francis Brennan, modera-
tor of the society and assistant
pastor of the church was honored
on the tenth anniversary of his
| ordination and his ten years at St.
Therese’s Parrish.
| Color motif was carried out in
| green ‘and ‘white and the center-
| piece was a large cake decorated
in green and bearing the inscrip-
| tion “Congratulations Father — 10
| years”.

ski, president; Mrs. Edward Chuk-
inas, treasurer; Mrs. Edward Mil-
