Mrs. William Gray and children are | and roll in it like a horse turned
visiting Mrs. (Gray's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Perry. The Rev.
Mr. Gray is pastor of the Presby-
terian Church in Lock Haven. Mrs.
Gray is the former Catherine Perry.
The annual public meeting of
the Franklin-Northmoreland Town-
ships Ambulance Association was
held last week Tuesday at the
Centermoreland Methodist Church.
Reports for the year were given.
The following officers were elected:
President, Wm., W. Boyes; vice-
president Harold Davenport; secre-
tary Ama DeGraw; treasurer L.
Stanley Jones. The following direc-
tors were also chosen: For one year
David Werts, for three years Mrs.
Marion McHenry. And for North-
moreland Township, Stacey Schoon-
over. ’ ¢
Mrs. Margaret Marcy was up to
Mt. Zion last Sunday with her
granddaughter Penelope Pappas,
whose last name at least used to
be Pappas. 1 forgot to ask if that
was her name now. She has grown
tall like a lovely young tree!
And I saw Ellen Daniels whom
I hadn’t seen for some time. Of
course I recognized her but I al-
ways have to identify her as ‘the
little golden curled lassie” I often
saw years ago when she lived with
her folks where the Willis Hawkins
people now live.
Edward Miles was not at church
on account of having a bad sore
throat.
It’s a pleasure to see so many
growing and beautiful things. The
golden dandelions spattering both
lawns, rejoicing that they are not
being ruthlessly mowed down as
fast as they bloom. And the lush
grass, like border to border carpet-
ing, growing taller every hour. It
would look silly for me to lie down
N. Lehigh St.
Shavertown, Pa.
out to pasture, but Tuffy rolls and !
rolls with sheer skin-cooled joy.
I began one day to mow the lawn
which is easy with our power mow-
er. But these days my ability to do
such easy things is severely limited |
by my loss of appetite and weight. |
Funny about this loss of appetite;
it’s totally foreign to the Gilbert
nature. Tt carries with it a revul-
sion against even the thought of
food. Don’t worry, T'm dutifully
doctoring for the inside infection,
for I don’t want to get any lower
in weight than the 174 I've reached. |
Once in awhile I think of something |
that IT know would taste good. For |
instance, three years ago Cathy |
set out, with my help, a dwarf
sickle pear tree near our old Kieffer
pear. The catalogue said to have
it near such a tree for the sake |
of cross pollinization. Up till this
year there were no blossoms, but
now the little darling is blossoming |
at the same time the big tree is.
So I've told all the little bees to
do their best so I can have some
sickler (or seckle pears) like I used '
to enjoy when I was as little as
this four foot high tree. I hope
I have at least three pears, one
for Ruth, one for Cathy and one!
for me. And even without my ap-
petite I'll enjoy that juicy pear.
Clara Gonser is back at home
now on Sutton Creek Road. She
has a young woman named Ann
Merritt from Wyalusing living with
‘her at present.
The Sunday night meeting of the
Mt. Zion MYF featured a guest
speaker, Mr. Wm. T. Thom III,
assistant psychologist at the Chil-
dren’s Service Center in Wilkes-
Barre. He spoke on the subject
“Religion. as an Adventure,” men-
tioning the several types of religious
work camps and projects. During |
the business meeting which follow- !
ed, the following officers were elec- |
ted: President Nadeen Van Tuyle, |
vice president Nancy Alling, secre- !
tary Karen Hronich, and treasurer |
Mark Anchunas.
