Schmidle Honored
4 Mr. and Mrs. James ‘Morgan en-

Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Worthy Mat-

Order of the Eastern Star, enter-
tained the officers, choir, and sub-
stitutes at a memorable dinner
party at her Meadow Lake home
recently.
The tables were most attractive
in their Valentine motif with red
velvet pin cushions and gifts to ac-
centuate the season.
An enjoyable evening of fraternal
fellowship was highlighted by ex-
changing and revealing Secret Pal
gifts, games, interesting entertain-
ment by a string trio and films on
the New York World's Fair by
Diane Myers.
Kunkle Girl Has
Tenth Birthday
Georgann Kostenbauder celebrat-
ed her tenth birthday Sunday at a
party given at her home in Kunkle.
Georgann is a fourth grade student
at Gdte of Heaven School.
Guests who enjoyed the yellow
and white birthday cake were Nan-
cy Young, Denise Witek, Carol Fron-
czek Theresa Brown, Mrs. Fried,
Regina and Mary, and the parents

Leap Year Birthday
For Billy Burnaford
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kingston,
Tarlton Avenue, Dallas, celebrated
at a family dinner, Staturday, in
honor of their grandson, Billy Burn-

MARY RUTH DANIELS
Mrs. Robert Daniels, the former
Mary Ruth Andrew, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Andrew, Perrin
Avenue, Shavertown, was named to
the Dean's List at Moore Institute of
Art, Philadelphia, for the first sem-
ester.
Mary Ruth, a graduate of West
moreland High School, was the only
one in the Senior Class to qualify
for the honor. She is. working on
her Senior Thesis and then will hang
a wall in competition for a Fellow-
ship to Europe.
The local art student who hes
done some excellent work: in por-
traits and other modernistic ar-
rangements, expects to work on her
competitive offering early in ‘April.

Awards At Banquet
Huntsville Methodist Church was
the setting recently for the Annual
Blue and Gold Banquet of Cub Pack
No. 255.
Rev. Robert Jones gave the invo-
cation and the Cubs lead the Pledge
of Allegiance. Robert Williams, cub-
master, was toastmaster.
Table had as its centerpiece a
large birthday cake.
Awards' were given the following:

and one gold arrow, John Yankow-

Local Couple Wed In Virginia
Miss Grace E. Belles, daughter of
Mr. Herbert Belles and the late Mrs.
| Belles, Beaumont, became the bride
of Irvin C. Barber, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Irvin Barber, RD 1, Dallas, on
December 14th at Ilda Church of
God, Fairfax, ,Va.
Rev. Jennings B. Wood performed
the double ring ceremony. Miss Ann
Webb was soloist.
Miss Beverly Belles, niece of the
bride, was maid of honor and Er-
nest Barber, brother of the bride-
groom served as best man.
Escorted by her brother, William
Belles, the bride was attired in a
long formal gown fashioned with a
lace bodice, long tapered sleeves
and high neckline. The full skirt had
an apron of lace over taffeta and
terminated in an aisle wide chapel
length train with a bow at the back
of the waist line. Her three tiered
veil of imported sheer French il-
lusion was attached to a. beaded
pear] crown. She carried a colonial
bouquet was. of red roses and shat-
Mrs. Jennie Boice, Sugar Hollow,
Tunkhannock, R.D. 3, who cele-
brated her 92nd birthday on Sun-
day, March 1 was honored at’ a
dinner party at her home having
a wonderful get together with her
loved ones.
Mrs. Boice, who was the former
Jennie Wright of Noxen, has lived
in ‘Sugar Hollow for forty years,
prior to that time residing in vari-
ous parts of the Back Mountain area.
Her - husband Freeman, passed
away fifteen years ago and her
son, Solomon now lives with her.
She was the mother of eleven
children, ten of whom are still
living. Twenty nine grandchildren,
forty eight great grandchildren and
five great great grandchildren com-
plete the family circle.

The maid of honor selected an
ankle length gown of yellow sheer
taffeta. Her bouquet was of shat-
tered carnations on a white test-
ament.
Mrs. Helen Belles, representing
the bride’s mother, wore a royal
blue Jersey sheath with matching
accessories with a corsage of pink
roses.
Mother of the bridegroom select-
ed a beige jersey sheath with cran-
berry accessories. Her corsage was
of yellow roses.’
A reception followed at the home
of the bride's sister, Mrs. Verenice
Wood, Falls Church, Va. The couple
honeymooned in Washington.
The bride is a graduate of Tunk-
hannock High School and Empire
Beauty College.
Mr. Barber graduated from Tunk-
hannock High School and is an em-
ployee of the government in Va.
The couple are residing in Falls
