Has Fatal Heart Attack
Cleon Drebelbis. ‘57, resident of
Pikes Creek for the past twenty
years, dropped dead of a heart
attack Wednesday at noon, while at
his regular employment with the
Valley White Trucking Company in
Forty-Fort. He had been a mechanic
with. the concern since 1944.
A native of Hobbie, he wags buried
there in the family plot at Silver
Maple Cemetery on Friday, Rev.
Charles Heller, retired minister of
the Church of Christ, officiating. =
His parents were the late Charles
and Frances Nungesser Drebelbis, of
Hobbie. He was a member of St.
Peter’s United Church of Christ,
Hobbie. 3
He leaves his widow, the former
Rose Perre, Berwick; a son Norman,
Kingston, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs.
Thomas Creasing, Pikes Creek; two
brothers: Casper, Hobbie, and Ken-
neth, Wapwallopen; five grand-
children.
Dallas Free Methodist
Starts Youth Program
As a special offering initiating a
program slanted toward younger
people fin the church, Dallas Free
Methodist will show on' Sunday ev-
ening at 7:30 a fifty minute color
film on leprosy lin Africa. ‘“Mangan-
ga” is released by the American
Medical Association, completely au-
thentic, and wvitally interesting. Rev.
James S. Randle invites older peo-
ple as well as youth to attend this
service.
The first Sunday of each month
will be Youth Sunday, with a spec-
ial program for discussion and suit-
able activities at 4:30, and the ev-
ening worship service tailored to
fit the needs of this' segment of the
congregation, featuring films and
slides.
Shavertown WSCS To
Begin New Study
Rev. Russell Lawry, pastor of
Dallas Methodist Church, will be
guest speaker at the regular month-
ly meeting of Shavertown Methodist
WSCS February 3 in ‘the social
rooms. He will speak on “The
Church Beginning Where We Live”
Mrs. Martin Porter, program chair-

The spiritual life study course,
“Teachings Toward Christias Pre-
fection”, will begin at this time and
will embrace three spirtual classics.

what is so rare as, isn’t the only
time .of clear skies. Some winter
skies are as blue as a back-drop
behind scissored-out hills. Some
days our minds think that clearly.
Other days we think muddily. So
the prayer by Thomas a'Kempis,
one of my favorites, goes this way:
“Defend and keep the soul of thy
little servant among so many per-
ils of this corruptible life, and by
grace going with him, direct him
by the way of peace to the country
of everlasting clearness.” Isn’t that
a beautiful way to put the inner-
soul-yearning of all of us
Sometimes in a mood of whimsy
I have said, “When by the grace
of God I am admitted to the hea-
venly land, the first place I want
to stop is at the Information Bur-
eau. »
EVERLASTING CLEARNESS

Friends have said, “Probably
when you get that far you will not
care anything about the Informa-
tion Bureau.”
Maybe not, but I have carried
along a lot of questions I have been
willing to wait till then to have
answered. For then I would be in
just such a “country of eaerlasting
clearness.” After asking suestions I
think I would say, “Now please may
I take some harp lessons?” I have
always liked harp music. A million-
year old concert grand piano could
accompany, and I wouldn't mind
having some D-trumpets and a roll
or two on the kettle drums. I don’t
want much do I? But that prayer—
“by the way of peace to the coun-
try of everlasting clearness.” Even-
tually, but I hope I will be allowed
to muddle along here for quite a
while yet.

26th, to hear the annual reports,
adopt the budget for 1964 and to

Elects Officers, Adopts 1364 Budget

The report of the Building Fund
Campaign and Every Member Can-
vass held December 15th, 1963, was
presented by the chairman William
Cooper, Sr. He thanked the canvass-
ers, and the members of his com-
mittee for cooperation in making
this campaign a success.
The Necrology reports were read
by the pastor -in memory of the
following members: George Hinkle,
Mrs. Evelyn Hauck, Ralph Burkert,
and Thomas Longmore.
The meeting was adjourned wth
prayer and the benediction by the
pastor, Rev. Andrew Pillarella.
Mrs. Viola Schmoll
Lies At Maple Grove
Mrs. Viola Schmoll, nearing 76,
long-time resident of her native
Loyalville, died Sunday morning at
General Hospital, where she had
been admitted ten days earlier. For
the past eight years she had lived
in Edwardsville with her daughter
Mrs. Dorothy Clemow.
She belonged to Loyalville Meth-
odist Church and its Ladies Aid.
She was a former Sunday School
teacher,
She leaves in addition to her
daughter, these children: Mrs. Wil-
liam Hutton, Fort Washington;
hamton; fifteen grandchilldren and
six greatgrandchildren.
Burial was at Maple Grove fol-
lowing services conducted by Rev.
James Garrahan, pastor of Maple
Grove Charge, assisted by Rev. Ir-
vin C. Wise.

tain Branch YMCA member and res-
ident of Trucksville, will be the
new program assjstant and athletic
director at the Back Mountain
YMCA, Williams is a sophomore at
Wilkes College and majoring in ac-
counting. He is a former Hi-Y mem-
ber and sponsor and has maintained
an active interest in the affairs of
the Back Mountain Branch.
Mr. Williams will begin his duties
on February 3. He will be in charge
of building activities on Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday evenings
