This community is still numb
from the terrible catastrophe which
wiped out the entire family of Mr.
and Mrs. Harden Coon, Jr. Every-
one js asking how fire could take
such a terrible toll within such a
short period of time.
The sympathy of the community
is also extended to Kenneth Cooper
of Chase Road, on the death of his
father, John C. Cooper, trucking
contractor of Plymouth whose death
occurred on December 30 at
Plymout.h.
Wayne Hughes, son of Mr. and
Mrs. William R. Hughes, Chase
Manor, returned to his classes at
Bryan College, Dayton, Tenn. on
Thursday, Jan. 2. Wayne is a mem-
ber of the Senior Class at Bryan
College.

Sherman Davis, Jr., Chase Man-
or, has returned from a vacation
at the home of this parents at
Nashua, New Hampshire. Sherman
enjoyed skiing on New Hampshire's
courses.
Morris Sloop, Chase Maner, has
returned home after spending two
weeks in Canada, where he skied
on several famous sites.
Excitement ran high around Mrs.
Elizabeth Fielding’s home during
the holiday season. Men's Club and
Friendship Class of Edwardsville
Baptist Church held Christmas par-
ties there and also Mrs. Fielding
had as guests on Christmas Day
nine. children and families: Mr.
and Mrs. John Fielding, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Fielding, Mr. and Mrs.

Lehman
All the folks of Lehman were
saddened by the terrible tragedy
that took place New Years Day in
our township. I will say again it
is a wonderful community to live
in, as everybody turned out to help.
We would like to thank Mr. and
Mrs. John Vivian for being so kina
ag to open their garage up for shel-
ter, to firemen, and to the
ladies of the Auxiliary.
Public address system is installed
in the Methodist Church. We would
like to thank all those that donated
and gave memorials, and helped
make it possible with prayers. We
who are hard of hearing appreciate
it.
Mrs. Earl Chamberlin took sick
on the family trip to Florida, and
finally had to go to the hospital,
and undergo an operation. .She is
out of danger, and we hope she
will soon be able to enjoy the sun-
shine.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rossman are
celebrating their 38th wedding an-
niversary on Mr. Rossman’s birth-
day, January 7.

Chase, returned to their schools
vesterday, Will to Hotchkiss, and
Jessie to the Madera School.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Elston had
as guests on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Franklin and Carol, Hor-

Ricky Frantz, son of Mr.
Mrs. Chuck’ Frantz, returned to
Hotchkiss, after spending the holi-

The rose-bud in the Methodist
Church Sunday was in honor of the
arrival of Carol Lynn Tethers,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
W. Tethers, Jr., born October 28.
Sunday was student's day in the
Church, so the following are our
college students who took part in
the morning worship: Carol Cutt-
ing, William Oncay, Helen Sidler,
and William Sidler.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hoover
went by bus to visit their som and
family, Lt. and Mrs. Dale Hoover.
Keith and Kevin. at their home in
Massachusetts, Mrs.
Cobleigh, from Idetown went with
them. as she is Mrs. Dale Hoover's
mother.
Our sympathy to the family of
Mrs. Emma Ruggles. who passed
away last week. She lived for
many veans in Lehman with her
husband, and for the last year she
and her husband lived with their
daughter Mrs. Wayne King in
Meeker.
Mrs. Fay Brown, Sr., was taken
to Nesbitt Hospital in Lehman am-
bulance on Christmas night. She
is improving.
Jackson Grange held their Christ-
mas party recently. Santa was
there in person. Carol Eddy sang
a solo and a recitation was given
by - Brian Coombs and Kezin
Coombs. A trio, comprised of Bar-
bara, Dianne and Billy Rice enter-
tained with vocal selections.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Boice, Har-
risburg, were weekend guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Jesse Boice, who returned
to Harrisburg with them on Mon-
day; returning home to Idetown on

Mrs. Helen Hartman and Dorothy

Class Friday efter Christmas. Games

Raymond Garinger visited Rev. and
Mrs. David Morgan at Wyoming,
where they had the pleasure of
seeing all three Morgan sons, home
together for the first time in seven
years. q
William = (always called Billy),
the eldest son, is employed by the
Research Division of the U. S. De-
partment of Agriculture. He, his
wife, and three children live in Lau-
rel, Maryland. Robert Caswell Mor-
gan, a graduate of Wilkes-College,
is a teacher of the visually handi-
cepped in York County. The Robert
Morgans have a nine month old
daughter. The youngest son, known
to all of us as “Cookie”, is now
Captain John Cook Morgan. He and
his - wife recently returned from
Hawaii, where their young son Jeff,
was born two years ago Capt. Mor-
gan is now serving as a system
analyst at Hancom Air Force Base
in Massachusetts.
