Christmas party in the Methodist
Church basement, Games were
played, gifts exchanged and a de-
licious turkey dinner enjoyed by

Mrs. Arthur Bates is a patient
in the General Hospital.
Fred Schenck entered ‘he Gen-
eral Hospital last week, for tests.
Mrs. Fred Kromelbein, Carver-
ton, is visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Loren Case.

Church held their annual Christmas
party, at the home of Mrs. Willism
The
home was beautifully decorated
with a large Christmas tree and
other lovely decorations. Games
were played, a business meeting
was held and gifts exchanged.
A tasty lunch was served to the
following: Mrs. Henry Tane, Mrs.
Elwoed Patton, Mrs. Alpha Dy-
mond, Miss Mary Patten, Mrs.
Dorothy French, Mrs. Elida Beahm,
Mrs. Jacob Miner, Miss Muriel
Lutes, Mrs. Albert Jones, Mrs.
Oscar Fish, Mrs. Fred Schenck,
Mrs. William Munketchy, - Mrs.
Ruth Field, Mrs. Raymond Gunton,
Pastor and Mrs. Fred Eister. Mrs.
Lane, Mrs. Munketchy and Muriel
Lutes were the hostesses. Pastor
and Mrs. Eister showed colored
slides of Puerto Rico, which were
very interesting.
Miss Peggy Coole, N. Plainfield.
N. J.. was home for the Christmas
holidays.
Mrs. Joseph Shalata
a few days with the virus.
The sympathy of the entire com-
munity goes out to the Oscar Pat-
ton family in the deaths of Oscar
and also Edward Strednv, wh>
was stricken down with polio and
died very unexpectedly at the Gen-
eral Hospital on Saturday morning.
Friends and relatives were all
under the impression that his con-
dition was improving, day by day,
when the end came.

arrived home on Sunday morning
from Newtown. N. J. where thrv
was ill

Dallas High Begins Winter Sports;
F irst Basketball Game January 7
After winding up a successiul sea-
son of football with the Mountain-
eers winning their second straight
Wyoming Valley Conference Champ-
ionship, Dallas ‘Senior High School
continues ite winter sports activities
with scheduled events in wrestling
and baketball.
Wrestling practices commenced on
November 15 and many hardy cand-
idates s'gned up for the sport, Sen-
icrs out for their last season were
Lee Hoyt, John Brominski, Thorhas
Kerpovich, William Swartwocd, Wil-
liam Kelley, Car! Kashenbach, Frank
Wadas, Richard Lov: and Cris To-
lovos. Juniors were Neil Martin,
Reese Finn, Lowrenc2 Richards,
Tames Haines, I.2wis Tzaac, Robert
Anderson. John Done d
Sinith, Walter . Prokepchak, John
Be beck, Richard Bayliss, Conrad
Genzalez, Thomas Budd, John Banks

time, the following sophomores tried

men returned to the squad.
The matmen, under coach Allan
and. have already met Benton
in an exhibition game and Hanover
first on the regnlar schedule. The
bovs lost both matches. The next
will be [3aturday, January 4 at home
against Plpmouth. This year, ‘the
schedule includes Clark Summit for
the first time.
Basketball season is under way
with six games of exhibition already
played. The first coatest in North

League play will be January 7 when
the hoopsters meet Crestwood on
the Dallas court.
