When a Hoover dies, the entire community is affected: It is one of the largest family connections in the Back Mountain. Mr. Hoover, 65, had known for four years that his days were num- | bered. Tuesday afternoon he died | at General Hospital where he had been admitted two days earlier. Born in Luzerne,.son of the late Perry and Ida Dextér Hoover, he spent most of his life at Pikes Creek. He was a miner and a construction worker. Prior to his illness, he had worked for a time at a cosmetics plant in New Jersey. He belonged to Maple Grove Methodist Church. « Many of the Hoovers are buried in the church cemetery, including Mr. Hoover's parents. ! Brown, Center Moreland Road, are sched- uled for this afternoon at 2 from the Nulton Funeral Home, with a firing squad at Marsh Cemetery furnished by Noxen VFW Post. Rev. William Watson will officiate. Mr. Brown, 54, dropped dead of a heart attack Monday afternoon while hunting deer near Meshoppen. He had stooped over to help his son tag his first deer, when strick- en. Mark, Jr., 15, ran to the near- est house for help. Death was in- stantaneous. This is the second area death of a middle-aged man while hunting. His meighbor, Irwin Denmon, Beau- mont, died early in deer season after dragging his kill to his car. Born in Vernon, son of the late Levi and Anna Wright Brown, he was educated in local schools. He was employed in construction work by Hemp Brothers, Laceyville. During World War II, he served Africa and Europe. He leaves his widow, the former Hazel Dymond, Center Moreland; two children, Mark and Frances Ann, both at home; three brothers: Harry, Beaumont; Stanley, Tunk- hannock RD; Elmer, New Jersey; three sisters: Mrs. Elmer Shaffer, Eatonville; Mrs. Emily Smith, Ver- non; Mrs. Thomas Piscotty, Plymouth.
