prised everyone by getting married.

over the Thanksgiving holiday to
get fattened up and come back for
Thief Gets Electric
Drill From Gosart's
iA sneak thief took an electric
hand-drill from the display at Char-
lie Gosart's Appliance Store last
weekend. The loss was not noticed
until Sunday night. There was no
sign of forcible entry.
Charlie says the hand drill, though
costly, was small enough to be
slipped into a large pocket and
smuggled out. Police are investi-
gating,
the winter sports will soon be start-

Santa appeared early to distri-
bute gifts at Shavertown Fire Hall
as children of local firemen enioy
a Christmas Party Saturday even-
ing at the Fire Hall.
Sponsored by the Ladies Auxil-
iary, the event was preceded by a
covered dish supper after which
games were played and [Santa ar-
rived riding on the fire truck.
A large tree, handsomely decor-
ated, was donated to the group by
Boy Scout Troop 231. Each young-
ster received an individual gift and
a big chocolate Santa.
Spots The Whatzit
Mrs. Bud Mitchell, Kunk'e, spot-
ted the Whatzit in last week’s
Dallas Post as a tray of ice cubes.

as their first project of ‘the year
to sponsor a Bake Sale on Dec-
ember 14th at the Acme in Shaver-
town. The money collected will be
used to help defray the cost of a

The second marking period end-
ed last Friday. Report cards are
due to be distributed in the home-
rooms tomorrow.
Tomorow at Assembly, the An-
nual Chistmas program will be pre-
sented in the Auditorium.

Last Monday, December 9, theand band will present a Christ-
mas Concert. Directors of the af-
fair are Miss Ohlman and Mrs.
Lewis,
In order to pay for the cost of
publication, the yearbooks solici-
tation staff has started a drive to
solicit patrons. Bob Brown, Ronald
Sinicrope, Diane Pope, James Buck-
ley, Patricia Whalen and Karen
Walk are chairmen. The staff has
been divided into ‘three groups with
Diane Pope, James Buckley and Pat
beam of light. He also told us that
researchers are working with lasers
as a cure for cancer. It has already
been found to aid eye defects in
many ways. Mr, Lawry was intro-
duced to the student body by Mr.
Carr, Physics Instructor.
The opening of basketball season
was celebrated with a Pep Rally
on December 4th. Varsity and jun-
ior varsity cheerleaders participated
|in this peppy exhibition. Mr. Brobgt |
the basketball coach, gave a short
speech and introduced this year’s
players. All students wish the team
a good season,
Dallas has certain reasons to be
proud of ifs football team. Three
reasons are: West Side Conference
Whalen as committee coordinators. Champions, victors of 21 straight

An inspiring program was pre-
sented to the students last Thurs-
day morning.
Sponsored by Bell Telephone, Mr.
Lavery, representative of the com-
pany, presented a new discovery
in the use of light which is called
“Laser.” Mr. Avery pointed out the
many uses of this new discovery.
He clearly explained the method by

ulations are extended to John Bro-
minski, Michael Jones, Joseph Noon,

Members of the Key Club and
Keyettes gave part of their vaca-

December 2, separating, boxing, and
delivering clothing to families in
our area. The remaining clothing
which we can transmit sound, radio | was bagged and tied for delivery
' throughout the world.

giving. The boxes of food were pre-
pared by the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Dallas - Kiwanis Club.
Captain Harold Birth, of the U.
S. Air Force, visited our school last
week and told of his experiences and
the opportunities available for many
students not contemplating college
in the immediate future. Captain
Birth explained the various train-
ing schools and college programs be-
ing offered to the young men whe
desire these opportunities.
Captain Birch is a graduate of our
High School, and we look upon his
achievements with pride
Key Club members held a hay-
ride on Saturday, November 30
Fifteen Key Club members and
their dates marvelled at the beauty
of our area as they rode through the
snow covered countryside under
the light of a full moon. The group
had light refreshments, and enjoy-
ed dancing at ‘the Mohawk Club af-
ter the hayride.
