| Escorted by her father, the bride
| was attired in a white brocade
| dress, trimmed in white fur and a
white fur hat. She wore a corsage
| of pink tea roses, and carried a
| white prayer book. ;
Miss Margaret Ayers, bridesmaid,
| wore & peach colored knit dress,
{ with white accessories. Her corsage
| was of white carnations.

A reception followed in the newly-
weds home, 48 Joseph Street, Dal-
las.
Tke bride is a graduate of Tunk-
hannock High School and the Em-
pire Beauty College in Wilkes-
Barre.
The groom graduated from West-
moreland High School and is em-
ployed by Bendix Corporation at
Montrose.

Honored At Lovely
Variety Shower
Mrs Robert Lamoreaux and Miss
Dorothy Maransky, entertained re-
cently at a variety shower honoring
Gloria Musial, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jay Featherman, Shickshinny.
Miss Musial became the bride of
Thomas Maransky, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Marangky, Ricketts Glen,
November 23. The shower was held
at his parents home.
A color motif of pink and white-
was carried out. The centerpiece
cheon was served. The following at-
tended: Mesdames Viola ' Roman,
Dorothy Buggo, Evelyn Roman, I-
rene Maransky, Gertrude Roman,
Theresa Roman, Letha Long, Betsy
Winters, Margaret McCloy, Joan
Cragle, Jean Roman, Sophie Fea-
therman, Ann Clark, Elizabeth Pe-
chulis, "Irene - :Lamereaux, Misses
Dorothy Maransky, Lois Zultevicz,
and Mary Jo Long. Those who sent
gifts but were unable to attend

Opens One-Man Show
At Lebanon Valley
Robert Hukill, instructor in Eng-
lish and art at Dallas Senior High
School, and in art at the adult ev-
ening school, opened a one-man
exhibit this week at Lebanon Col-
lege. For the past several years he
has exhibited there during June,
entering the /Arts and Crafts Show.
His paintings, developed mainly
in water color and gauche, show lo-
cal scenes of this area and of New
Jersey. He has exhibited at Cape
May, Reading, Philadelphia, and

MR. AND MRS. ARLINGTON VANDERHOFF
Mr. and Mrs. Arlington Vander-
holt, RD 4, Dallas, Pa. recently
celebrated their 25th wedding an-
niversary with a family dinner.
They were married on Thanksgiv-
ing ' Day, ' November 24, 1938 in
Kingston.
The couple has three. children,
Mrs. Thomas Williams, Lehman, the
former Lois Vanderhoff, R. N., a
graduate of Geisinger Hospital
School of Nursing; Janet, a nurse
at ‘St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem;
and Charles a student at Lake-
Lehman High School. Also one
grandson, Tommy, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Williams.
Mrs. Vanderhoff is the former
Esther Parsons, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Parsons,
Kingston. Mr. Vanderhoff is the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Halsey
Vanderhoff, Philadelphia.
Mr. and Mrs. Vanderhoff, both
former residents of Kingston, have
resided in Lehman for the past 19
years. They are members of Lehman
Methodist Church.
Mr. Vanderhoff is a timekeeper
for B. G. Coon Construction Com-
pany.
Balliets’ Holiday
Mrs. Gertrude Bebee, Chase, was
eighty-four on December 6. She is
the mother of Mrs. Earl Balliet,
Chase Road, with whom she makes
her home. 3
The Balliet’s had as guests for
Thanksgiving, Mr. Balliet's sister,
Mabel Balliet, Wilkes-Barre and son
Bert.

Laurel Run, were guests of his par-

received a call from their daughter,
Mrs. Donald S. Meyers, whose hus-
band, Sergeant Meyers, is stationed
at Fort Chaffee, Ark. She said she
missed being home for Thanksgiv-
ing and is hoping to be here for
Christmas. She would welcome let-
ters from former school mates:
Visits In Dallas
Franklin DeReemer, student at
M. I. T., Brookline, Mass., son of
Howard DeReemer, Dallas, Texas,
former resident of Dallas, visited in
this area on Thanksgiving. He spent
time with his uncle, Russell De-
Reemer and family, and his aunt
Mrs. Thomas Bottoms and family.
Australian Guest
At Davies Home
Dr. and Mrs. Carleton Davies,
Marc and Dianne, Machell Avenue,
had as their house guest last week-
end, W. D. Chisholm, Geelong, Aus-
tralia. He was met at the Avoca
Airport by his hosts. He came to
the States, with the Geelong Foot-
ball Team, where they played
Tournament Matches in San Fran-
sisco. Business purposes brought
him East.
Geelong West Rotary Club, who are
sponsoring Linda Davies stay, in
Australia; He brought news to
Linda’s family of her activities and
assured them of her good health
and welfare.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Newberry, Aus-
tralia, the family Linda stayed
with, also had as a house guest,
Mr. Patton, Leesburg, Va., who was
in Geelong with an Evangelisic
Church Group. Upon arrival home,
he called her family ‘and said he
had met Linda. He extended an
invitation to Linda ‘to visit Lees-
burg and speak to the Rotary there
when she arrives home,

Ricketts Glen, observed their sil-
ver wedding anniversary, Sunday
November 24, with open house.
Roman, daughter of Thomas Roman
and the late Mrs. Eva Roman, Ply-
mouth and Ricketts Glen. Mr. Mar-
ansky is the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Maransky, Mountain
Springs.
The couple were married Novem-
ber 24, 1938 at ‘St. Casimer’s Roman
Catholic ‘Church, . Plymouth with
Rev. Father Anthony Sincavage of-
ficiating. Mary Shelman, Lopez,
niece of Mr. Maransky was maid
of honor. Mrs. Maransky’s uncle,
Frank Bonovich, Ricketts Glen,
served as best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Maransky are the
parents of four children, Alberta
wife of Captain George Marshalak,
now living in Wiesbaden, Germany,
where the Captain is stationed
with the Air Force; Irene, wife of
Robert Lamoreaux; Chase; Peter,
Jr., Berwick and Thomas, Berwick.
There are three grandchildren, Pat-
ricia, Mary Ann, and Alberta Mar-
shalak.

Observe Silver Wedding Date
Jr. were married a year ago on his
parents anniversary, and Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Maransky were wed
November 23, the day before his
parents silver anniversary.
Two wedding cakes adorned the
table at the celebration. One, a
tiered cake decorated in pink and
white featuring pink roses was
baked and presented by the honor-
ee’s neighbor, Mrs. Joan Harrison;
the other, a tiered cake in silver
and white and bearing a large “25”
on top. The couple were the recip-
ients of many lovely gifts.

Frank, Brook Haven; Mr. and Mrs. |
Charles Fuysciks, Patricia and Eu-
gene, Nortin, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Maransky, Picture Rocks.
Mr. Maransky is a carpenter for
John Thatcher and Son, Inc., Milton.
Mrs. Marangky, active in commun-
ity affairs, is a school director in
Fairmount Township and Northwest
area and is president of the North-
west area P. T. A. The couple are
communicants of Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel Roman Catholic
Silkworth.
Mr, and Mrs. David Davies, 88
Tunkhannock Highway, Dallas, ob-
served their 55th wedding anni-
versary on Tuesday,
The happy occasion was celebra-
ted on Thanksgiving Day when their
son and daughter in law, Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas E. Davies, and son,
Thomas, Jr., Joseph and Doreen,
Baltimore, Md., arrived to join in
the festivities. :
Another son, David, resides in
California. There are seven grand-
children and five great grandchild-
ren.
The couple were married in Em-

For most -of their married life,
Mr. and Mrs. Davies traveled in
conjunction with her husbands oc-
cupation. Upon retirement, they re-
turned to the Back Mountain to live,
coming to Dallas eight years ago.
Both are in fairly good health.
Mrs. Davies spends her time turn-
ing out lovely handwork, while her
husband reads and enjoys keeping
up with current events both through
newspapers and television.
Edward Stredny, Polio
Victim, Is Improving
Edward Stredny, Harveyville dairy
farmer who was stricken with polio
over two months ago, and has been
in an iron lung at General Hospital,
is improving to the point where he
can breathe outside the apparatus
for an hour and a half without dis-
tress. He is regaining use of his
arms and shoulders. In spite of
the interruption to his dairy farm-
ing, ‘necessitating sale of his live-
stock, Mr. Stredny feels confident
he will farm again.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bottoms,
King Street, Dallas, ‘talked with
William DeRemer and family, Colo-
rado Springs, Colorado, Thanksgiv-
ing eve. They were informed De-
Reemer had just bagged a ten point
deer and also received a promotion
