Mrs. John Baur, Jr. Trucksville,
submitted to surgery last week at
Nesbitt Hospital. The Baurs, with
their ‘two children, Michael and
Julie, moved to Trucksivlle from
Nazareth, when Mr. Baur accepted
a teaching position in September
with the Dallas High School.
"Ralph L. Martin, student for the
priesthood, Mt. St. Mary's Semin-
ary, Emmitsburg, Md., is spending
the Thanksgiving holiday with his
mother, Mrs: Harry L. Martin, Har-
ris Hill Road, Trucksville.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Paglianite,
Country Club Road, Dallas, had as
guest last week, Mr. and Mrs. Tony
Cavalier, Toronto, Canada,
spent part of their honeymoon with
the Pagliantes, being married two

With the beauty of the autumn
foliage forming a rustic bower at
the little White Church on the Hill,
Trucksville, Miss Ellouise Holmgren,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer
Holmgren, Hemlock Street, Fern-
brook, became the bride of James
Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
Rogers, Maple Street, Fernbrook on
Saturday, October 19. :
Rev. Andrew Derrick of Glen-
view Primitive Methodist Church,
Fernbrook, officiated. Treva Sor-
chik was soloist and Marie Pomeroy
played the wedding music.
The bride, who was given in mar-
riage by her father, was lovely in
a white floor length wedding gown
ted bodice with an open scalloped
of lace over taffeta featuring a fit-
neckline and long tapered sleeves
ending in points at ‘the wrist.
The bouffant gkirt was trimmed
with wedding ring lace which form-
ed the chapel length train in ai-
ternating rows. Her headpiece was
a double crown of pearls and aurora
borealis which held a four tiered
veil of imported illusion. She car-
ried an arm bouquet of white mums,
pom pons, intersperced with yellow
rosebuds and tied with white satin
streamers.
Miss Carol Ann Rowe, Newark, N
cousin of the bride, was maid of
honor and Mrs. Willard Lansberry,
Lehman; Mrs. Spencer Martin, Jr.,
Noxen, and Mrs. William Sammon,
Philadelphia, were bridesmaids.
The attendants wore identical
floor length gowns of bouffant taf-
feta in emerald green tones. The
fitted bodices were styled with
scoop necklines and elbow length
sleeves. Watteau panels with a bow
at the neckline finished the back
of the semi belle skirts. Their head-
pieces were of a floral and leaf de-
gign in matching shades with pro-
file veil trim.
The maid of honor carried an
arm bouquet of yellow chrysanthe-
mums and orahge pompons tied
with orange and green streamers.
The bridesmaids bouquets were of
bronze chrysanthemums and yellow
pompons.
Misses Donna and Diane Rogers,
sisters of the bridegroom, were ju-
nior bridesmaids “and ‘were dressed
in similar dresses of light green and
wore floral headpieces They carried
nosegay bouquets of yellow mums.
Thomas Rogers, brother of the
bridegroom, served as best man.
Ushers were [Spencer Martin, Jr.
Arthur Prutzman and Robert Sor-
ber.
The bride’s mother wore a water-
melon pink chiffon dress styled
with a Grecian bodice, sheath skirt
and brown and ‘beige accessories.
Her corsage was of talisman roses.

Wednesday evening, November 27
at Dallas Junior High School.

Mildred Smith, adult advisor. The
Star Fires will play for dancing.
Service project under Betty Oat-
ridge is coming along nicely.
Canned goods and toys may be
brought to December meeting. All
items gathered will be given to the
Salvation Army for distribution.

Apron sale orders in charge of
Mrs, Agnes Myers, must be turned
in by early December.
To Visit Sister
In California
Mrs, Jessie Gordon, Trucksville,
and her twin sister, Mrs. Jennie
Sweezy, Kingston, left Avoca Air-
port on Monday ‘to fly/to San Fran-
cisco, California, transferring to jet
at Pittsburgh.
The ladies will spend several
months visiting their sister, Miss
Norma Walters, Ballejo, Cal.,, whom
they have not seen for many years.
Mangles Left Hand
Mrs. Byron Ide, Fort Wayne, In-
diana, formerly of Trucksville, is
nursing a badly mangled left hand
which was injured when caught in
the garage door near their new
home, 3009 Stardale Drive. Mrs. Ide
is a sister to Mrs, Robert Mac-
Michael, Demunds Road and Mrs.
Thomas Wisnieski, Davis ' Street,
Trucksville,
The bridegroom’s mother chose
a royal blue sheath peau de soie
made with a jacket and three quar-
ter length sleeves. She wore a blue
hat and black accessories and a
corsage of pink sweetheart roses.
Mrs. Anna Jones, grandmother of
the groom, selected a blue floral
dress with a flowered hat and Ma-
mie Eisenhower carnation corsage.
A reception followed at Fellow-
ship Hall, Trucksville. The couple
left on a honeymoon trip to Niagara
Falls and Canada.

Wed At St. Therese's Church

"Saint Therese'’s Church, Shaver-
town, was the setting for the re-
cent wedding of Miss Barbara
Rodack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Rodack, 260 §S. Sherman
Street, Wilkes-Barre, and iStephen
Richard Strazdus, son of Mr. and
Mrs. August Strazdus, Dallas.
Rev. Francis Brennan performed
the double ring ceremony, before
an altar of white gladioli with a
touch of yellow asters. Mrs. Robert
McDowell, was organist.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was attired in a floor
length gown of imported - organza
with a Sabrina neckline trimmed
with hand cupped Alencon lace me-
dallions and seed pearls. The long
sleeves ‘were tapered and con-
trolled front trimmed: with Alencon
lace medallions, the ckirt finding
fullness from unpressed pleats.
Her veil of imported English il-
lusion was arrahged from a crown
of seed pearls with crystal droplets.
She carried a cascade bouquet of
white roses, white carnations, ste-
phanotis and ivy intersperced with
yellow roses.
Miss Elaine Rodack was maid of
honor for her sister. She was at-|
tired in a two-piece canary yellow |

jacket was fashioned of lace over |
taffeta, with a skirt of nylon organ- |
ballering street-length dress.

Following the ceremony, a dinner
was held at Meneguzzo’s Luzerne,
after which the couple left on a
motor trip to California.

An esteemed Shavertown couple,
Mr. and Mrs. Newton Ness, Kir-
kendall Road, will observe their 40th
wedding anniversary on Thanksgiv-
ing Day this year.
Mr. Ness formerly of York Coun-
Blairsville, - were married in that
city.
The couple, who have given free-
ly of their time to all community
endeavors since moving to the Back
Mountain area have resided in
Shavertown since 1933.
Mrs. Ness and her husband have
been active members of St. Paul's
Lutheran Church, she serving as
| organist, alternating with Thomas
| Hontz, Sr., in that capacity for
twenty years and Mr. Ness a val-
uable member of the Church
| Council.
