donated $22 to the State Conserva-
tion Project in which the Dallas
Senior Woman's Club also partici-
pated. A bench bearing the name
of both clubs will be placed some-
where in Luzerne County until the
Carverton Park Area is developed
at which time it will be moved
there.

Johnson on the Library Auction,
Mrs. Merton Jones on Retreat
Carnival, Mrs. Raymond Wilson on
the House Tour and Mrs. Evan Bon-
awitz on the Rotary Fair.
Mrs. Borton announced the club
would be represented at the fol-
lowing affairs: League of Woman
Voters, by Mrs. Joseph L. Reynolds,
III; N. E. District Federation of
Junior Women’s Clubs, Marlyne
Lipfert and Mrs. Joseph Borton;
Luzerne County Federation of
Women's Club Fall Meeting, Mrs.
Joseph Balavage, Mrs, Paul Lauer
and Mrs. Joseph Borton.
The club adopted a resolution
calling for the preservation of the
scenic beauty along the Luzerne-
Dallas Highway and to prevent fu-
ture encroachment of advertising
and undesirable construction along
the Highway through enforcement
of existing laws and ordinances.
Mrs. William Gittens was guest
speaker, her topic being ‘Smart
Accessories.” *
Mrs. James Huston and Mrs. Ned
Hartman were co-hostesses. Guests
included Mesdames Van Zimmer-
man, Robert Bradley, Robert Gable,
Sheldon Pfeifer, Dale Shelenberger,
R. W. Dingham J. J. Liotta and W.
J. Kelly.
Celebrate 40th
Mr. and Mrs, Charles Hosler, Par-
rich Street, Dallas, observed their
forty first anniversary, Monday,
November 4.
There are three children, Dr.
Charles Hosler, meteorologist at
State College, Mrs. Donald Mitch-
ell, Fairfax, Va. and Mrs. Calvin
Folmsbee, West Suffield, Conn., also
eleven grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Hosler were mar-
ried at the Honey Brook Metho-
dist Church by Rev. Salkeld.
She is the former Miriam Stauf-

Mr. Hosler is the son of Mrs.

in charge of Naval Procurement
with offices at Kingston Corners.
The Hosler’'s are members of the
Dallas Methodist Church. Mrs. Hos-
ler is president of ‘the WSCS of
the Dallas Methodist Church and
a member of the Brickel Class.
Married Thirty Years
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur ‘Calkins,
Jackson Street; Dallas, observed
their = thirty-second anniversary,
Tuesday, Nov. 5th. , es Le
The couple has two children,
Charles of New Brunswick, N. J.,
and Carol at home. There are four
grandchildren.
The Calkins were married in 1931
at Methodist parsonage, Luzerne, by
the late Rev, Ivan L. Snyder.
Mrs. Calkins is: the former Elea-
nor Welch, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Welch, Kings-
ton.
Mr. Calkins is a retired contrac-
tor.
They are members of the Luzerne
Methodist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Duda and son,
Billy, Davenport Street, spent Wed-
nesday in Harrisburg. Pete was on
a business trip for Sears Roebuck.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto
ago, will celebrate their Golden
Anniversary Saturday, November 9.
The marriage was performed by the
Rev. Per Agrup on November 9,
1913 in the Lutheran Church, Vin-
slov, Sweden.
Mr. and Mrs. Olofsson live at
Alderson, Harveys Lake, where they
operated a farm on Route 29 be-
tween Noxen and Ruggles.
Mrs. Olofsson, the former Esther
S. Anderson, was born in Chicago
but returned to Sweden with her
parents when she was four years
of age. Mr. Olofsson, born in Swe-
den, was a resident of Stoby.
The Olofssons remained in
Sweden for ten years after their
marriage and then came to live in
Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Olofsson was a
lumberman in his native land and
he was employed in the mining in-
dustry in this country. He was
also in partnership with Mis brother-

the farm.
He has one brother, John, living
in New York and three brothers,
Karl, Emil and Henry living in
Sweden. There are several nieces
and nephews, one of whom is a
Methodist minister at Pound Ridge
Community Church in Connecticut.
The Olofssons are members of
Reformation Lutheran Church, Har-
veys Lake, of which the Rev. Wesley
Kimm is pastor. Mr. Olofsson was
a councilman there for several years
and is a member of Frithiof Lodge
No. 38 S/F. of A.
The couple have two daughters,
Mrs. Arthur Wheat, Trenton, N. J.,
and Mrs. George May, Lewiston,
Idaho. There are also six grand-
children.
Mr. and Mrs. Olofsson expect to
be at home on their anniversary,
but no plans have been made for
a special celebration.
Kiwanis Women Meet
With Men's Group
A combined dinner and program
with the men’s club was held re-
cently by Dallas Women of Ki-
wanis.
Tables were attractive with ar-
rangements of fall flowers.
New members, of Dallas Kiwanis
were inducted following the dinner.
A short meeting for the women
was held later.
