sented next Thursday, Friday and
Saturday evenings by Dallas [Senior |
and Dallas Junior Woman's Clubs
will offer an evening of fine enter-
tainment ranging from comic to
classic. Excellent chorus and solo
numbers intersperced with dancing
specialties will highlight the Mu-
sicale directed by Frank Casey with
an assist from Vince Murphy and
Dan Stenger who will alternate as
master of ceremony. Music will be
furnished by Bobby Baird and his
orchestra.
The presentation to be ,held at
Dallas Senior High School will be
made up of the following cast: Mrs,
Robert Stephenson, Dr. David Kun-
kle, Donna LaBarr, Marilyn Lipfert,

For Scenic Beauty
Dallas Senior Woman’s Club at
its October meeting passed a resolu-
tion similar to that passed by the
Garden Club of Wyoming Valley a
short time previous, and printed as
an. editorial in the Dallas Post of
October 17. The Senior Woman's
Club goes on record as:
“Wholeheartedly supporting the
efforts. of the Greater Wyoming
Valley Chamber of Commerce, gov-
erning officials and other interested
groups. and individuals ‘to preserve
the scenic beauty along that stretch
of highway and to prevent further
encroachment. of both advertising
and undesirable construction
through enforcement of existing
laws and ordinances.”
The stretch of ‘highway is the
portion under construction. from
Luzerne to Dallas,, defaced hereto-
! | fore by glaring signs.

The United Nations Dinner Thurs-
day night at Hotel Sterling was well
| attended by Back Mountain resi-
| dents, among them a number of
students from foreign countries at-
tending College Misericordia. Many
of these girls posed questions for
Philip Deane, head of the United
Nations Information service
Washington D.C., who invited ques-
tions at the conclusion of his talk.

Mrs. Townend Returns
From Oregon Visit
Mrs. Mae Townend, Twin Spruces,
Pioneer Avenue; Dallas , has return-
ed home after spending a ‘three
week visit with her son and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Townend, Port-
land, Oregon. .
Mrs... Townend, an advocate of
airplane travel, fulfilied a long-time
desire to fly in a helicopter, when
she made the trip from Pniladel-
phia to New York in one of the
whirlibirds.
She -enplaned via TWA jet from
the metropolis arriving in a matter
of hours at her destination, having
breakfasted at her home in Dallas
and enjoying dinner with her son

daughter, Saturday, October 26, at
Nesbitt Hospital.

Flies Back To England
After Three-Week Leave

from England Monday, which an-
