More Hallowe'en decorations ap-
peared during the week, the Jack
Appels and the Joseph Allens be-
ing among the first I noticed, and
Bob Domnick spent several hours

pumpkin cowboy for his front door-

sons,, Joel and Allen, have moved
to Palmyra, N. J. Mrs. Piccoli is
the former Mary Jo Laux, daughter
of Mrs. Joseph Laux and the late
Mr. Laux.
Today is the 5th wedding anniv-
ersary of the Piccoli’s. Happy cele-
bration, Mary Jo and Al
Mrs. John Henniger, Druid Hills,
is still confined to her home by ill-
ness. Hurry and get well, Esther.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bartelson and
sons, Bruce aond Brians Langhorne,
spent the weekend with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hinkle, Lin-
coln Drive. Mrs. Hinkle returned
with them to enjoy the grand-
children for a week.
George Wolfe, Shaver Avenue,
returned Friday from Mercy Hos-
pital ‘where he had been a patient
for three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs Wilbur Lawry and
daughter, Flushing, Long Island,
visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Williams, who celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary with
open house Sunday.
Mrs. Lorraine Stair, Pioneer Ave-
nue, has been ill at her home dur-
ing the past week.
Harry and Gladys Ell, Lehigh
Street, are rejoicing over the birth
of their sixth grandchild, born to
son, Ralph and his wife.
Mr. and Mrs Bob Jones are also
celebrating the birth of their first
child, a daughter, Jennifer.
Mrs. Cleora Chamberlain returned
home last week from Nesbitt Hospit-
al, and is staying with her grand-
daughter, Mrs. James Sheckler, Dal-
las. :
Mrs. Thomas Newman and sons,
Tommie and Paul, Reading, spent
last week at the home of her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ell, Jr.
Mrs. Charles Lutsey was a mem-
ber of the officers delegation from
Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 353
which put on a program in Lans-
downe on Sunday.

Airman 2nd Class ‘Stewart Stahl
is spending a ten day leave with

Noxen Volunteer Fire Company
was called at 4:30 p.m. Friday and
at 9:30 p.m. to extinguish a grass
fire near the home of Mr. and Mrs.
James Wyant, Ruggles, Saturday at
7:30 pm. A fire broke out on the
township dump, which they quick-
ly put out.

Sunday at the home of Mrs. Nellie

burning leaves. He and Bill Pugh
have been kept busy the past week
watching for signs of smoke or
fires while covering all streets and

dollar fine will be levied on anyone
burning refuse at this time of
drought.

charged from Veterans Hospital
last week following an operation
for the ‘removal of a piece of
shrapnel from his leg. Young Jerry
has the piece of shrapnel as a
memento!
Mrs. Russell Lewis and daughter
Mary Louise spent last Wednesday.
evening visiting the Shumakers at
their cottage up Route 92. Mr.
Jackson Terry does a deal of travell-
ing and Mrs. Terry frequently ac-
companies him. They are interest-
ing people to visit.
Mildred Lloyd, who recently lost
her brakes and crashed her car, got
another car,
where that ought to be sued for
damages when it ran in front of
her car without signelling. Every-
body knows what one of those
slight-built animals can do to a
car’s front end.
Mrs. Mary (Howard) Lewis is
far enough along on her road to re-
covery from her recent hospital
experience to begin doing things for
other people. This is the lady we
used ‘to see under a sunbonnet
among her flowers. Now she’s
taking postage stamps off of letters
and sending them to the children
patients in Brooklyn Methodist Hos-
pital. I wish those children could
see the kind-faced lady who sends
the stamps.
Tommy Lloyd had a birthday last
Sunday the 20th. I dare say that
the two little boys were a great
help in disposing of that birthday
cake!

Jeanne Sickler had a birthday
party for their little girl Mona Lee
Wednesday. She was two. There
were aunts and uncles there besides
both grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Dana Sickler, and Mr. and Mrs.
Leslie Youells. ' Then the children
at the party — sister Marlene,
cousins Patty and Dana Parrish,
Sandy and Kathy Perry and Michael
Youells. What do you suppose she
wanted on her birthday cake? A
cowboy! And she had it.
Sunday afternoon after our Polio
shots we drove to Berwick and
down the road toward Orangeville
and there was a mail box with
Charles Sax mame on it. We stopped
for a visit. What a beautiful old
place! Modernized in all utilities.
The floors old boards sanded and
varnished. A dream of a kitchen!
No wonder Esther is wild about it.
All over the place are Esther's
violets. Then we came home —
like the Wise Men in the Bible —
“by another way.”

fined home last week with a virus.
Tim, Jodie, and Chris Shaw have
returned home after spending last

coke, while their mother and infant
brother Aaron were in Mercy Hos-
pital. During their stay Tim was a
victim of chickenpox.
