Engelman has sold his home on Tumkhannock Road to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Engelman, Bristol. Noxen Fire Company was called out at 8:45 Saturday evening to extinguish a fire at the Kocher residence on Tannery Hill. The fire turned out to be burning rubbish and no harm was done. The home is at present unoccupied. William® Race, recently, spent a week with his son Vane and family, Wallingford, Conn. While there, they all drove to Lynn, Mass. where they visited some old Noxen friends, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Van- Campen, Mrs. Van _ Campen was formerly Anna Horlacher, also a former resident of Noxen., Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sheehan, Allentown, Mr. and - Mrs. Robert Derby, Montrose, were visitors at the Guy Fritz home on Sunday. East Dallas East Dallas Hobby Club met last week, at the home of Mrs. Sue Welch. Floral arrangements for autumn centerpieces was the theme for that week. Next meeting will be in Marilla Stanton’s home. Members present were Joyce Si- dorek, Carol, Mary and Barbara Lasher, Ruth Young, Priscilla Cool- baugh, Florence Martin, Sally Wag- ner. Mary Reese and Marilla Stan- ton were unable to be present. Mrs. Frank Heslop, Demunds Road, was pleasantly surprised with a visit Saturday, August 31, by Mrs. Joseph Garside and daugh- ter Harriet from Camp Hill. They had attended a luncheon at Irem Temple Country Club, spent the intervening time with Mrs. Heslop, then were guests at the Snyder- Janjigian wedding in First Methodist Church, Kingston. Paul and Mary Valentine left East Dallas last week to visit rela- tives in Laceyville, Paul's son Arthur drove them to Washington, to visit another son’ Kenneth. From there they will travel by train to their home in Auburndale, Fla. Lois Ryman spent the weekend at home after teaching in Selings- grove. Mark was born Saturday, September 7 at Nesbitt Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Strazdus ar- rived safely in VanNuys, Calif., on Labor Day. They visited Disneyland Tuesday, then on to Lake Tahoe. They planned to leave Friday, stop in Texas to visit Carol and Ted Montross, their newlywed cousins. Then on home to East Dallas. Sounds like a wonderful honeymoon. Herman Meyers, Homestead, Fla., is visiting Fred Dymond, Jr. He resides in his house trailer, parked in Ted’s yard. Billie Evans, his girl friend and sister Linda, Reading, surprised their sister Ellen for the weekend. They stayed with Rose and Bob Jones, Orange, also had ‘Sunday dinner with their grandma Robbins. Harold Evans, their father, has purchased a farm at Fleetwood, near Reading, and has moved his family there. Another sister Carol, is married and has a little girl, Penny, also living in Reading. Rose and Bob Jones sure were in for surprise visits, having a brother-in-law, Harry Carr and son from Connecticut, whom they hadn't seen for nine years." Young (Carr is in the Air Force making it a career and is now entering foreign service. They were former Orange residents and glad to see their old friends again. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mrs. Hicks in her bereavement. I can sympathize, as I went through it ten years ago. God does what is best. Harmony Club, Demunds, held a farewell party for Mrs. W. E. Schoonover at her home, Saturday, August 31. She is a charter mem- ber, being one of the ten who or- ganized the club in 1928. They celebrated their 35th anniversary last spring.
