Miss Sarratt graduated from Law-
son High School and attended the
University of Maryland for two years
where she majored in Elementary
Education.
Mr. Bellas is a graduate of West-
moreland High School and Univer-
sity of Maryland. He is employed
by the Middle Department Associa-
tion of Fire Underwriters in Phila-
delphia.
The wedding will take place on

Huntsville Methodist Church was
the setting recently for the wedding
of Miss Earlene Gertrude Balliet,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W.
Balliet; ‘Chase “Road, Shavertown]
R. D. 5, and Sgt. Donald Sampson
Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samp-
son Myers, Albert, Mountaintop,
R..D. 3
Reverend R. James Lomg, Albert,
and Rev, Robert Jones, performed
the double ring candlelight cere-
mony. Organist was Carl Coates
and soloist, Nelson Coates. Vases
of white gladioli and pompoms and
white camdelabra adorned the altar.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Lois
Hildebrand. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Connie Lea Balliet, sister-in-law of
the bride, Mrs. James Meade and
Miss Lois Hildebrand, cousin of the
bridegroom. Bert C. Balliet, bro-
ther ‘of the bride, Henry Hilde-
brand, cousim of the bridegroom
and James Meade were ushers and
Harry Henry served as best man.
‘Escorted to the altar by her fa-
ther, ‘the bride was attired in a
white floor length gown of silk or-
ganza over taffeta, designed with a
fitted bodice and lomg sleeves end-
ing in points at the wrist. The
bouffant organza skirt, inset with
lace edged with scalloped lace, was
re-embroidered to match the neck-
line. Her headdress was a double
crown of pearls and aurora borealis
from which flowed a two tier veil
of illusicm. She carried a swing
bouquet of shattered white carna-
tions and pompons centered with a
white orchid. :
The matron of honor selected a
street length dress of mint green
The circular
bouffant skirt was draped im the
back and topped with a large bow

scalloped veil. She carried a match-
ing swing bouquet of shattered car-
nations anid pompons.
The bridesmaids were attired in ‘Manns,
similar dresses and headpieces in
pink, orchid and yellow. They car-
ried swing bouquets of shattered
camations and pompons.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at O’Connell’s Twin
Lakes, after which the couple left
on a honeymoon to New York, New
Jersey and Lake Harmony in the
Poconos. For going away, the bride
selected an orchid silk shantung
sheath dress, with white pillbox
hat, white accessories and a white
corsage.
The couple visited friends in New
Orleans enroute to Fort Smith,
Ark., where Mr. Myers will, be sta-
tioned.
Mrs. Myers is a graduate of Lake-
Lehman High School.
Mr. Myers was graduated from
Fairview Township High School and
is serving six years ‘in the U.S.
Army, after spending 18 months in
Germany.
' Pre-nuptial showers were given
by Miss Mabel Balliet, Mrs. Donald
Balliet, aunts of the bride, and Mrs.
Bert C. Balliet at the bride’s home,
and her attendants at the home of
Miss Lois Hildebrand at Albert.
The couple was feted at a farewell
party by the bridegroom’s parents
at the Wright Township Hall, be-
fore departing for Arkansas.

Sunday afternoon at a variety
shower, honoring Eileen Marie
Crane, Outlet Road, Harveys Lake.
Decorations were in keeping with
the occasion, the color motif
carried out in pink and white. Table
centerpiece was a pink parasol, and
a tiered cake, decorated in pink
and white topped with a miniature
bride and groom. Games were play-
ed with prizes being awarded to
Marie Roginski, Jane Cooper Smith
and Terry Chukinas.

Schneiders Visit
New England States
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schneider

Hampshire, where Mardi Gras was

Hampshire, a shrine for all faiths
where services are held daily and
an organ recital given all day. They

the travelers had a most enjoyable
time.

A party was recently held at the
home of Mrs. Irene Major, Demunds
Road, Dallas.
Refreshments were served and
prizes awarded to winners of games.

Close Busy Summer
Girls 4-H Club held its final round-
up on Friday, August 16 at the
home of Mrs. Curtis Edwards, East
Dallas.
The girls finished and modeled
skirts they had made and each re-| ——
ceived a blue ribbon award for a
job well done from Mrs. Betty Ann
Bodman, Luzerne County Extension
Representative.
Mrs. Edwards gave a great deal
of time to the project for the past
eight weeks,
with the girls.
