Shavertown vs. Fernbrook
Behind the strong pitching of Rog-
ers, who struck out 12, Shavertown
beat Fernbrook August 8, 3-1.
In the secomd inning Mahler sing-
led, stole second and third when
Miller was hit by a pitch. The throw
to second was late when Miller stole,
and the ball too late to catch Mah-
ler, who made it home.
Miller scored after Rogers walked,
and ‘the same play as before back-
fired again. Then in the fourth Feh-
linger and Rome singled, and Feh-
linger scored on an error. But in the
sixth, Miller singled, Mahler was
safe on an error, and Miller scored
on an infield out.
Miller and Mahler had the only
two hits for ‘Shavertown, while
Fehlinger, Rome, and Martin had the
only hits for Fernbrook.

Trucksville trounced Dallas Dairy

In the second inning Szela singled,
Pope and Martin walked, Rutkin
singled, and Harrison walked. Then
in the third, for Trucksville, Rutkin
was safe on an error, Harrison safe
on fielder’s choice, and Williams
walked. Rosenberger them followed
with a single.
In the bottom of the fourth, Miller,
Galletly, and Rosser doubled. Pryor
was safe on an error, and Bottoms
doubled.
Trucksville scored 4 more on
walks in the fifth, and a single by
Pope. Then in the sixth they scored
three more on hits by Cashman and
Wisnieski, and a walk to Williams.
Williams, Wisnieski, Pope and
Rutkinm had two hits each for Trucks-
vile while Galletly and Bottoms had
two each for Dallas Dairy.

bathing suits and get those boats in
drydock. Dig back in the closet and
get out your bowling equipment.

it out a few times. See there! Just
takes a little practice, you'll be all
set by the time season starts. And,
that’s just three weeks off! If you
haven't signed up, get on the “ball”.
You might still get on a waiting list
and before long you'll be on regu-
larly.
Tomy’s summer leagues are just
about finished. Two more weeks to
go. Everyone’s had loads of fun and
it’s been good practice for most.
The whole bunch will “blow off
steam” at a big outing August 25
at O’'Connell’s Twin Lakes. Remem-
ber last year! Dom’t miss it!
Little has been written on the
Party Leagues ‘this summer. There's
been a fine turnout and the lanes
have been kept busy.
Monday might is the big night for
the gang using Peterson Point Sys-
tem. Forty-eight men make up the
men’s league and there are twenty
women. As of last week, the top five
men were Charlie Williams-127.08
points, 207 average; Minor Shaw-
120.20, 188; Nick Buynak-118. 017,
189; Ted Heness-177.23, 186; Bill
Weaver-113.02, 179. Leading the
women were Anita Pascavage-103.30
points, 162 average; Libby Cyphers-
103.02, 153; Mary Ann Comsidine-98.

On Tuesday nights, ten teams of
men and women get together. Mc-
Cormick’s team was on top with 22
points, Sekera’s had 21 and Com-
monwealth 18.
Wednesday night's mixed league
is called the “Summer iSplashers”.
Heading the eight teams is Farrell's
with 20 points. A three-way tie has
second place with 15 each, Saunders,
Shutlock and Berkey’s. Kamont has
14.
On Thursday night, eight teams
of two couples each “pound the
boards”. Pecchi’s team topped the
lineup last week with 21 points;
Pilger’s had 17 and Fielding’s 13.
Men’s Minor League, six teams,
rolls on Friday night. Until last
week’s contest, Culp Brothers led
with 26, Verfin had 25 and Weaver,
22,
Back Mountain Neighborhood
League held meeting Thursday might
to make final plans for the coming
season, Were you there? Should
have been.
George Shupp Bowling League will
meet at 8 Monday evening, August
19, in the Crown Imperial meeting
room. Plans will be made for the
coming season which starts Monday,
August 26.

3-0 in a make-up game Monday
with Kern tossing a neat four-hit
shutout. Smith suffered the loss.
Kunkle had the only extra base hit
in the game, a double. Harris paced
the winners with two hits, while
Farrar reached Kern for two of
Dallas’ four hits.

Four-run outbursts in the bottom
of the fifth and sixth innings by
Westmoreland gave them an 8-6 win
over East Dallas. Fedak gained the
win, being touched for nine hits.
East Dallas used three hurlers with
Miller absorbing the loss. West-
moreland garnered but four hits,
but walks and errors hurt the East
Dallas hurlers. Wolensky collected
a triple and Prynn and Supulski
doubles along with Dunn,
