Calvin Kanyuck, teacher at Lake-
an eight-week National Science
Foundation Summer Institute at
Indiana State College, one of forty-
seven teachers from twenty-one
different states participating in the
institute. He is taking courses in
physies and biology.
Mr. Kanyuck has been teaching
in the Lake-Lehman area since
1954. In addition to teaching, he
has served as assistant basketball
coach for the past five years.

For Mrs. Sarah Moss
Mrs. Sarah Maude Moss, 81, died
early Tuesday morning, as she
would have wished to die, without
preliminary illness, and in her own
home in Fernbrook. She woke late
Monday night with difficulty in
breathing, suffered a heart attack,
and passed away at 1 a.m. Her
daughter, Mrs. Mabel Leitch, from
Detroit, was with her at the time.
Friends may call tonight at the
Disque Funeral Home, 7 to 9. She
will be buried tomorrow in Marsh
cemetery, Rev. Andrew Derrick
conducting services at 2 p.m.
A Pikes Creek mative, daughter
of the late Foster and Augusta Sny-
der Bulford, she was a lifelong resi-
dent of the Back Mountain. She
was educated in Lake Township
schools, Thirteen years ago she
moved from the Moss farm on
upper Demunds Road to Shaver
Avenue, Fembrook. She was a
member of Glenview P. M. church,
and active in its missionary society.
Her husband Charles died in
1934: ; :
She leaves these children: Mrs.
Leitch, Detroit; Lester and Roy,
Dallas; Marvin, Shavertown; Mrs.
Ida Cooke, Wilmingtom, Del.; bro-
thers, Frank Bulford, Rowlesburg,
‘W. Va.; Corey Bulford, Sweet Val-
ley; sisters: Mrs. Mary Cobleigh, in
the Poconos; Mrs. Clara Dodson,
Muhlenburg; Mrs. Rachel Levey,
Richmond, Va.; ten grandchildren
and twenty-two greatgramdchildren;

innovations, Instead of the custom.
ary formal show, with a multiplicity
of divisions and classes, this will be
a Garden and Hobby Exhibit.
There will be only six divisions:
Flower amd plant specimens; fruit
and - vegetable specimens; Home
Arrangements, including a juvenile
class, arrangements, and minia-
tures; Church Arramgements; Gar-
den Collections; and Hobbies and
Crafts.
Jurging will be by ballot of the
guests. An open invitation is issued
to anybody to make an entry in any
or all classes. Ribbons will be
awarded.
A word pf caution: No responsi-
bility can be assumed for any hobby
entry left in the show after 9:30 p.m.

ceived from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday,
from 8:30 to moon on Wednesday.

Lies At Bloomingdale
Services for ‘Charles J. Wester-
velt, 69, were held Saturday after-
noon from Bronson Funeral Home,
Sweet Valley, with Rev. William
Howie and Rev. Paul Cope officiat-
ing.
Interment was in Bloomingdale
Cemetery.
A resident of Hunlock Creek, Mr.
Westervelt died Thursday morning
at Geisinger Medical Center, Dan-
ville, where he had been a patient
for two weeks.
Prior to retirement several years
ago, he was employed by Wyeth
Laboratories, Radnor, Pa. He was
a veteran of World War I serving
overseas with the artillery division,
where he was wounded in action.
The son of the late Joseph and
Mamie Olendorff Westervelt, he was
active in a number of organizations,
Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Com-
pany, Masonic Order of Bloomfield,
N. J., and the Consistory of Newark,
N. J., among them. He was a mem-
ber of Bloomingdale Bible Protes-
tant Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Helen Gregory;. a daughter, Mrs.
Betty Search, Muhlenberg; sister,
Mrs. Marie Johnson, Baltimore, Md.;
nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beulah Kitchen,
Was Native Of Stull
Mrs. Beulah Keiper Kitchen, 63,
native of Stull who moved to Phil-
adelphia from Dallas eleven years
ago, died Saturday at the Episco-
pal Hospital after a long illness.
Services are scheduled this after-
noon at 2 from the Disque Funeral
Home, Rev. David Morgan, former
pastor of Alderson Methodist
Church, officiating. Burial will be
in Kitchen Cemetery.
A member of Alderson Methodist
Church, Mrs. Kitchen transferred
to Dallas Methodist and later to a
church in Philadelphia. She be-
longed to Dallas American Legion
Auxiliary. She was a former em-
ployee of Bowman's Restaurant and
Natona Mills.
Her parents were the late Joel
and Catherine Keiper.
Her husband Sterling survives;
also these children: Mrs. Kenneth
Traver, Tunkhannock; David, Dal-
las; Walter, Kingston; Mrs. Frank
DeGedio, Upper Darby; Louis, Phil-
adelphia; sisters, Mrs. Nettie Rich-
ards, Pittston; Mrs. Edna Salie,
Cincinnati, Ohio; also 13 grand-
children and two great grandchil-
dren.

ence Home in Scranton, taking bas-
kets filled with cookies for each
resident.
Members of the motorcade ate a |
picnic lunch along the way. After |
visiting the Home they went to Nay
Aug Park, saw bears, the coal mine |
and the museum, came home in the
rain, but intend to see the rest of |
the animals on a later trip.

Formerly Of Michigan,
Holly Seager, 60, Dies
Miss Holly Seager, 60, for the
past five years resident of Loyal-
ville, died Saturday morning at
General Hospital, where she had
been admitted four days earlier.
She had not been in good health for
nine years.
A native of Battle Creek, Mich-
igan, daughter of Nellie Grover
Seager and the late George Seager,
she was formerly of Chicago,
where she attended the Christian
Science Church,
+She was a graduate of Coe Col-
lege in Iowa, and studied Home
Economics at Iowa University. She
taught school for several years in
Cedar Rapids, and was later em-
ployed by the U.S. Navy depart-
ment in Iowa City.
She and her mother, her only
surviving relative, moved into the
house in Loyalville which was once
the Loyalville school before being
converted into modern apartments.
Rev. James Garrahan conducted
services Tuesday afternoon from
the Bronson Funeral Home, Burial
was in Wardan Cemetery.
