Trucksville vs. Lehman Jackson
Lehman-Jackson defeated Trucks-
ville 2-1 in seven-inning thriller,
Cooney the winning pitcher.
In the top of the second inning
Trucksville scored 1 run to make
the score 1-0. Trucksville held
that lead up to the bottom of the
sixth when Dickerson doubled and
them scored on a fielder’s choice
to make it 1 all. In the top of the
seventh inning Lehman held
Trucksville scoreless. In ‘the bot-
tom of the seventh, Dubil was put
in as a pinch hitter, drew a walk
and stole around to third, With
Cooney up, one of Zieefried’s fast
balls got away from his catcher,
scoring Dubil to win the game.

O’Malia and Ziegfried each had a

Joseph Layaou, Harris Hill Road,
responding to inquiries about Civil
War ancestors, and more especially !
ancestors who fought at the Battle
of Gettysburg, brought a neatly
typed document to the Dallas Post:
John Layaou, farmer, was born |
in Montreal, Canada, May 2, 1834, |
later residing in Jackson Township, |
Cease’s Mills. He was son of John |
and Mary Chevalier Layaou, both !
Canadians. i
The father was a son of Joseph
Layaou, who at the age of forty-‘
one was .on his way to occupy gov-
ernment land when captured by
Indians. He had trying experiences
among them, passing through seven i
tribes in the twenty years, as one!
tribe overpowered another. He was
finally released to return to his |
friends.
John was reared and educated in
Montreal. In early life he learned ;
the carpenter trade, working at it’
for forty years.
He came to the United States in
1851, locating at Ballaton Spa, N.Y.
where he remained for nine months
before moving to Saratoga Springs,
where he completed his trade. |

Sedgwick, Third Brigade, Smith’s
Division.
John came to this area after the
settling first in Plains, then moving
in 1868 to Jackson Township to a
farm of sixty-three acres.
His was a model farm, built up
by hard work and practical methods
from a stony waste to its present
fertile condition.
In 1878 he lost his barn, stock,
and farming implements by fire.
His neighbors offered their services,
{ among them Martin Meyers, John-
son Meyers, and Jacob Smith.
Mr.
Plymouth.
He was married December 12,
1864 to Mary, daughter of Isaac and
Emily Larrabee. Eleven of their
fourteen children are living: John,
William, Margaret, Lizzie, Frank,
Charles, George, Rosamond, Selina,
Kate, and Therese.
