Chair At Post
Two weeks ago, Harry Post sat
at the linotype machine at the
Dallas Post. “Think I better leave
a little early today,” Harry said,
“it's pretty hot, and I'm not feeling
too well.” He added, “After all,
I'll be eighty on my next birthday.”
Harry sat for a few minutes in
his car before starting for his home
in Trucksville, The staff watched
him go. He had refused ‘to be
driven home. It would have been
unkind to press services upon him.
Harry had his dignity.
That was the last time the Dal-
las Post saw Harry.
When the news came that he had
been taken to Nesbitt Hospital
with a heart attack, and was under
oxygen ‘to ease his labored” breath-
‘ing, the staff realized that Harry
would not be back.
Mr, Post died Saturday afternoon,
following a stroke.
He was buried at Cedar Crest
Tuesday afternoon following serv-
ices from the Hugh B. Hughes
Funeral Home conducted by his
pastor, Rev. Robert Germond,
Trucksville Methodist Church.
When he retired from ‘the
Wilkes-Barre Publishing Company
in 1952, he found himself unable to
forego the pleasures of a busman’s
holiday, and filled in at the Dallas
Post one or two days a week, tailor-
ing his hours to fit his diminishing
strength,
For years before joining the
Wilkes-Barre Publishing Company,

In the interim ‘after merging
of the News and the Times Leader,
Mr. Post had held several print
jobs.
A member of the International
Typographical Union, he had been
given a fifty year pin some years
ago.
His son, Harry Post Jr., Kings-
ton, carries on the family printing
tradition at the Wilkes-Barre Pub-
lishing Company.
Masonic affiliations were
Consistory, and Irem Temple.
Resident of Trucksville for 49
vears, Mr. Post was a native of
Williamsport, son of the late Delose
and Mary Jeme Cummings.
He leaves his widow, the former
Rose Boote; -a daughter Mrs. Al-
bert L. Morse, Syracuse, and his
son Harry Jr.
Pallbearers were Clifton Camp-
bell, Edward Daggers, Jack Kennan,
