Shavertown, entertained at a Variety
Shower in honor of her cousin, Sally
Pierson, Long Island, Sunday after-
noon..
A large silver umbrella with
streamers rose from a low bowl of!
pink . carnations and white snap-
dragons. A party cake decorated in
pink and white rosebuds was topp-
ed with a miniature maiden dressed
in pink and bearing a pink parasol.
Favors were tiny wedding bell carts.
Miss Pierson received many lovely
gifts. Games were played and re-
freshments served to Mesdames

Mrs. W. M. Morley, with daugh-
ters Edith and Cindy, Greensburg,
will arrive on Friday to spend two
weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Asa L. Day
in Dallas.
Jack Barnes came home on
Sunday from University of Penmsyl-
vania Hospital, where he was taken
last week by ambulance after a
water-sking: accident. His - mother,
Mrs. Jack Barnes, Elmcrest, reports
that Jack is perfectly OK after a
wigdle battery of tests.
“Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Farr, White’
Birch Trailer Park, Dallas visited
their daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
@ Mrs. Levo Kocher, Spottswood,
NJ. over the weekend and helped
them get settled in their new home.
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gensel and
children, Keith, Warren and Calvin,
Chase Manor, Shavertown, R.D. 5,
have returned home after visiting
Mr. -and Mrs. Elmer Wasserott and
family at Cedar Lake, Indiana.
They also visited Mr. and Mrs.
Fort Wayne, Indiana
Post and former residents of the
‘ Back Mountain.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Smith and
daughter Donna recently returned
from spending a week in Cleveland,
Ohio, where they attended the con-
vention of the National Society of
Professional Engineers. Dom was in-
siled as secretary of the National
Committee of Engineers in Private
Practice.
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Martin and
ildren, Cathy, Jackie and Lorraine,
Harry L. Martin all of Trucksville
and Karla Penny Ray, Sweet Valley
are spending several days ‘this week
in Connellsville visiting with friends
and relatives. The Martins are for-
mer residents of Connellsville where
Harry Martin was the superintend-
ant of the Connellsville Silk Throw-
ing Company. :
Mrs. John Vennema, St. Peters-
burg, Florida and Little Lake Michi-
gan is visiting at the home of her
daughter and som-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Sanders, Pioneer Avenue,
Dallas.
Harold Schooley, Davenport
street, suffered a smashed toe, while
at work at ‘the Acme Warehouse,
Forty Fort, recently. The accident |
occured when ‘Mr. Schooley caught
his foot between a jack and a girder.

Feted At Party
Marjorie Glahn, Bunker Hill, en-
tertained recently at a farewell
party in honor of Donna Anthony,
exchange student to the Phillipines.
Swimming was enjoyed at Te-Ja
Lake and refreshments served to the
following: Linda Davies, Judy Berg-
strasser, Linda Brague, Laura Jen-
kins, Jean Fleming, Patsy Anthony,
and the guest of honor.
Two New Gramdchildren
Enter Chapple Family
Mr, and Mrs. Raymond Chapple,
Summit Street, Shavertown, be-
came grandparents twice in three
weeks, recently, when both their
son and daughter presented them
with welcome additions to ‘the
family circle.
A son, Jay Raymond, weighing
six pounds, eleven and a half
ounces, was born to Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Chapple, N. Main Street,
Shavertown, May 31 in Wyoming
Valley Hospital. - This is the
couple’s first child. Mrs. Chapple
was the former Janet Ferstrom,
Wilkes-Barre.
On June 20, Radarman and Mrs.
Lawrence McClure, W. Mt. Airy
Road announced = the birth of a
daughter, Rebecca Ann in Nesbitt
Hospital. The baby weighed 9
pounds. This is the second child
for the McClures, who have another
little daughter, Brenda Marie. Mrs.
McClure is the former Connie Chap-
ple.
Hold Bon Voyage Party
For English Travelers
Mrs, Peter Duda, Dallas, and Mrs.
Emil Hohol, Luzerne, who are leav-
ing for England this weekend were
guests at a Bon Voyage Party held
at the Duda home Friday evening.
A large cake decorated with well
wishes was presented to the guests
of homor.

of King’s College performed the
double ring ceremony with Rev.
Joseph ~C. Ward, pastor of St.
Boniface Church, seated in the
sanctuary. The Apostalic Blessing
of Pope John XXIII was bestowed
upon the marriage. The bride
plaged a bouquet of blue carnations
before the altar of the Blessed
Virgin Mary.
White gladiola and pompoms
decorated the “altar.” Organist was
Mrs. John Haefner and Joseph Mil-
ler, soloist.
The bride, who was given in mar-
riage by her father, wore a floor
length gown of imported silk and
rose point lace, the Sabrina neck-
line enhanced by paillettes and the
wedding ring bodice of silk falling
into a full skirt of silk and misted
lace over silk taffeta which swept
into a chapel train. The silk sleeves
were edged with lace. She wore a
lace headpiece highlighted with
seed pearls from which fell a veil
of allusion. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses and baby
breath and a crystal rosary, gift of
the bridegroom.

N. J., was matron of honor and
chose a floor length gown of pink
organdy over pink taffeta, its lace
bodice styled with a square neck-

pink and white daisies and baby

gloves and a single strand pearl
necklace.
Miss Audrey Engler, and Mrs.

bride, were bridesmaids. Mary Beth
Woods was junior bridesmaid and.
Nancy Woods, flower girl, both
being nieces of the bride. All the
attendants wore gowns, identical to
that of the matron of honor.
Edward Kindler, Jr., Kingston
was best man. Ushers were Stephen
Waldow, Whitesboro, N. Y., and
Arnold Laux, -Shavertown. Ring

Following the ceremony, a bridal
breakfast for the family was held
at the Mansfield Ballroom, where
an evening reception was also held.

States. For her going away outfit
the bride wore a two piece flowered
dress with matching hat and a cor-
sage of white roses.
Mrs. Farrell is a graduate of
'G.AR. High School and is employed
as a secretary in the Trust Depart-
ment of Wyoming National Bank,
Wilkes-Barre.

also served two years in the U.S.

A cook-out in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Russell and grand-
daughter, Pamela Rich, Cleveland,
Ohio, who were visiting at the home
of the Harold Schooleys, was held
at the Schooley residence, Daven-
port Street, on Wednesday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Lou C. Wagner,
Ferguson Avenue, Shavertown, re-
turned home last week after attend-
ing the graduation of granddaughter,
Jill C .Smith from Basking Ridge
High School.
Miss Smith, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Alan H. Smith, Basking Ridge,
N. J., was speaker at the Commence-
ment exercises ranking second high-
est in her class. She also served as
editor in chief of the school year-
book. Miss Smith will enter Welles-
ley College in the fall.
Mr. Smith son of Mrs. Wagner
and a former Shavertown resident
is employed in New York as associ-
ate editor of the Fncyclopedia Amer-
cana. Mrs. Smith teaches art at the
Basking Ridge High School.
