Carlton Davies, past presi-
dent, was presented a life member-
presented with a past president's
pin 'by retiring treasurer, Mr. Carl
Kaschenbach.
The large turnout of membership
was pleasantly entertained by stu-
dents from the French and Spanish
departments. who put on a program
to show students progress of Spanish
and French songs, dances'and short
amusing skits. All the dialogue was
in Spanish and French: The program
was under the direction of Mrs.
Ruth Fossedal and Mrs. Alice Wool-
bert, teachers in the Modern Foreign |
Language Department.
Refreshments were served after
the meeting by the mothers of the
seventh grade students, with Mrs.
John Blase as chairman.
Celebrating’ her 90th birthday,
Sunday, May 26, was Mrs. Liva Gor-
don, Pike’s Creek, who resides with
her daughter, Mrs. Letha Bakor.
The former Liva Hughey, daugh-
ter of the late George and Emily
Barbara Hughey, Plymouth, Mrs.
Gordon resided in that community
uatil her marriage to O. H. Gordon
July 20, 1890 at Maple Grove
Church, Pike's Creek by Rev. Raw-
lings.
Mr. Gordon passed away: six years
ago. Six .children were born to the
Mr. and Mrs.
Beaumont, will celebrate their fifti-
day, June 4.
Mrs. Rifenberry is the former Ruth
Barber, Luzerne. The couple was
married in the home of the bride-
groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. S.
Rifenberry, Luzerne by Rev. W. J.
Day, Bennett Presbyterian Church.
Mr, and Mrs. Rifenberry have been
residents of the Back Mountain for
| thirty years, with Mr. Rifenberry
| operating 'a farm in Beaumont. For
| eight years, he also worked as a
| state highway employee.

Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary
For Beaumont Couple Sunday
Both he and Mrs. Rifenberry enjoy
good health and keep very active.
Her favorite hobbies are needlework
and gardening, while her husband
tends to his farm chores.
Four children were born to the
couple: A. S. Rifenberry, Syracuse,
N.Y.; Mrs. Margaret Clarke, William
and Merton Rifenberry, all of Beau-
mont.
There are sixteen grandchildren
and eight great grandchildren.
Open house will be held in honor
of the observance on Sunday, June
2, at the home of their son, Merton,
[from 1 to 4 p.m.

a birthday party held at her home
on May 17. A buffet luncheon was
| served. Centerpiece was a birthday
