Dallas Native Dies
Wesley Barber, son of the late
Frank and Martha Dymond Barber, |
and a native of Dallas, died aged
62 at a hospital in Waterloo, N. Y.
after suffering a cerebral hemor-
rhage.
Burial was in Albert Cemetery.
Mr. Barber lived in Mountain Top
for many years, before moving to
Willard, N. Y.
One of his five children is a son
Erwin Barber, of Dallas.

Charles Oberst Ashes
To Be Buried Saturday
The ashes of the late Charles
Oberst, native of Harveys Lake, |
who died aged 58 December 18 in |
Omaha, Nebraska, will be buried
Saturday morning at 11 in Wardan |
Cemetery, Rev. Robert D. Yost of- |
ficiating. He will lie in the family |
plot where his parents, the late |
| Fred and Sophia Andrews Oberst, |
are buried.
Ashes have been awaiting final |
brother Raymond Oberst is making |
arrangements. In addition to a
brother Raymond, Mr. Oberst leaves
a sister Mrs. Ida Griffiths, Philadel-
phia.
During Mr. Oberst’s residence in
Shavertown he belonged to Shaver-
town Methodist Church. Mrs.
Arthur Cook of Fernbrook is his
mother’s sister.
Dallas Students Caplure
Youth For Christ Trophy
Dallas Area students attending
the Youth For Christ Rally at Dallas
Junior High School on Saturday eve-
ning captured the membership tro-
phy making it the permanent pos-
session of the local group.
Nanticoke representatives . placed
second in attendance.
A well trained mixed youth chorus
under the direction of Jerry Major
added marked impetus to the eve-
ning’s program.
Rev. Harry Strauss, guest speak-
er, stated that 75% of modern del-
inquency problems should be laid
to parents, who have failed to per-
form their God given duty to their’
offspring. He urged a return to grace,
emphasizing that the last days were
at hand.
Mr, Strauss contributes musical
instruments for foreign missionary
fields to match those purchased by
the Youth For Christ donations.
‘A splendid musical program was
given by the Soudertown Jubileers.
Nearly two hundred youths and
their parents attended the session.
The group will hold an outing on
June 8.

the Sodality. Mary Margaret Chase,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon

prefect of the Sodality was given
the honor of crowning the statue
of the Blessed Mother.

Extends Sympathy
The community extends sympa-
thy to Luther Hunter, Sweet Val-
ley, whose brother Myron died Fri-
day afternoon at his home at Hun-
lock Creek.
A native of Hunlock Creek, he
served for several terms as school
director.

Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Williams,
Harveys Lake, lost a newborn in-
fant son Vincent early Friday morn-
ing at Mercy Hospital. Burial was
Saturday morning from the Glova
Funeral Home, with interment at
Mt. Olivet.
Mr, Williams is with the Harveys
Lake Bottling Works. Mrs. Wil-
liams is the former Joyce Cavill,
Harveys Lake.
Also surviving are brothers
Daniel and Timothy, and sister
Theresa Jean, at home; maternal
grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Cavill, Harveys Lake.

Precone at ‘St. Paul’s Church. Plans
were completed for the derby races
to be held at the Precone home on
Overbrook Avenue on Saturday, June
8 at 4 P.M. Trial runs will be held
on June 1st.
On July 11, the cubs will go to
Camp Acahela for supper and watch
the Indian ceremonial at 7 P.M.
All cubs and Den Chiefs are to
march in the Memorial Day parade
on Thursday, May 30 at 9:30 a. m.

James Coulter Lies
At Idetown Cemetery
James F. Coulter, 71, who died
last Wednesday at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Frank Gosart, Dallas,
R.D. 2 was buried Saturday from
Bronson Funeral Home.
Stephens Church, Plymouth, and in-
terment was in Idetown Cemetery.
Mr. Coulter, born in Wilkes-Barre
son of the late Richard and Rose
Leonard Coulter, was employed for
many years ds a stationary engine-
er for Kingston Coal Company, later
working for the Stowe Manufactur-
ing Company at Binghamton. He
retired six years ago.
His wife, the former Emma Pear-
son, died in 1938.
He is survived by these children:
Mrs. Margaret Sherwood, Nanti-
coke; Mrs. Joseph Ide, Idetown; Mrs.
Robert Welsh, Dallas, RD. 4, in
addition to Mrs. Gosart with whom
he resided. Also 22 grandchildren
and eight great grandchildren.
Three sisters: Mrs. Mary Ellen
Howley, - Harrisburg; Mrs. Jack
Pritchard, Plymouth and Mrs. Har-
vey Smith, Oneonta, N. Y., survive.
Glen Loveland Dies
In General Hospital
Services for Glen Loveland, 64,
Centermoreland, = were conducted
from the home of hic daughter, Mrs.
George Katalka, Wyoming, Friday
afternoon, with Rev. Kenneth O'Neil
officiating.
Interment was in Memorial Shrine
Cemetery, Carverton.
Mr. Loveland, who had resided in
the Back Mountain for six years, was
the son of the late Adam and Cora
Blackman, Hunlock’s Creek, where
he was born. He had been admitted
to General Hospital on Sunday.
He was employed for 38 years by
the Lehigh Valley Coal Company
prior to retirement. He was a mem-
ber of Centermoreland Methodist
Church.
Survivors in addition to his daugh-
ter are his wife, Addie; daughters:
Mrs. Stanley Jastremski, Wyoming;
Mrs. Richard Appelby, Mrs. Michael
Rambus, Centermoreland; Mrs. Mich-
ael Gray, Falls. Also sisters. Mrs.
Charles Gerlach, Luzerne; Mrs. Hazel
Reed, Noxen; Mrs, Josephine Perye,
Detroit, Michigan; Brother, Ray,
Luzerne; 38 grandchildren and eiaht
great grandchildren.
Carverton Festival
Pairs and Spares class of Carver-
ton Methodist Church will hold the
Annual Ice Cream Social June 22,
5 P.M. Homemade ice cream, root
beer and pie will be sold, also hot
dogs, hamburgers, soda and potato
chips. There will be games for the
children. Door prizes will be given.
Entertainment will be provided. The
public is invited to an evening of
fun and relaxation.
St. Therese’s Supper
Altar and Rosary Society of St.
Therese’s will serve a covered dish
supper June 5, at 6:30. Members
are reminded to bring their own
place setting as well as a covered
dish.
