Municipal Officials
Lecture Local Class
Pennsylvania History classes: of
Dallas Junior High School had a
seminar op municipal affairs con-
ducted by Harold Brobst, represent-
ing the town council, and Herbert
Updyke, police chief of Kingston
Township.
Mr .Brobst described Dallas’ po-
litical compositicn and offered an-
swers on the budget, zoning laws,
municipal consolidation as well as.
the present and anticipated growing
pains of Dallas.
Chief Updyke lectured cn the early |
history of law enforcement, the or- |
iginality of our judicial procedure
of local and state levels with em-
phasis on juvenile laws and their
interpretations.
Many questions were introduced
from the student body relating to
community affairs. Mr. Baran, fac-
ulty member, commented on the;
over-emphasis of delinquent prob-
lems in this community. Both civic
officials were in accord with this.
After stressing to each student the
importance of civic responsibility,
both men concluded the seminar re-
minding every pupil of his com- |
munity obligation and also suggest- |
ing possible course of action. |
This seminar was planned and |
conducted by William Baran, and |
. William Price, ninth grade Social
| Sodas instructors.
