brother, Harvey Bottébms, who is
seriously ill, in a hospital in Tren-
ton, N. J. They report he remains
in critical condition, as of Sunday.
Mrs. Betty Stash, Davenport
Strefly, visited her son Carl, ten,
who is attending Girard College,
Philadelphia, last Monday. It was
Mothers Day at the College.
Marianne Stash, daughter of Mrs.
Betty Stash, Davenport Street, re-
cently received First Holy Com-
munion at Gate of Heaven Church.
She was honored at a party and
received money and gifts.
Mr, Will Gabel, Long Island, has
taken up residence om Davenport
Street, he is a former resident of
Jackson Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gabel and
family, Davenport Street, spent the
weekend in Maryland, visiting Mrs.
Gabel’s parents.
Mrs. Andrew Stash, Overbrook
Road was a patient at the Mercy
Hospital, recently, where she under-
went minor surgery.
Nancy Crispell, Park Street, is a
patient at General Hospital. She is
in the childrens ward, seventh floor.
Nancy is a fifth grade student in
Dallas Borough School. She is
eleven years of age.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick (Scaife,
Barbara, Judy and Butch, Lock-
oR, N. Y., visited relatives in Dal-
las and Sweet Valley, on Sunday.
Mrs. Herbert Marley, Hildonia
Avefie, is a patient at Nesbitt Hos-
pital. She underwent surgery on
Thursday and is doing nicely. She
is on third floor, room 301.
Mr, and Mrs. G. Harold Lloyd,
Patterson Grove, had as guests re-
cently, Mrs. Blanche Keithline,
Eckley, Pa., formerly of Center-
moreland and Mrs. Helen Trimble,
former resident of Fernbrook.
Donnie Denis, ‘thirteen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dennis, Hunts-
ville Street, is a patient in Nesbitt
Hospital, where he ‘underwent an
appendectomy, recently.

Union Street, Wilkes-Barre, spent
the past weekend with her grand-
son, Jan Nesbitt, Lake Catalpa.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Cummings

Joyce And Linda Schoonover
Married At Double Ceremony
Centermoreland Methodist Church,
was the setting, Saturday, April
20th, at 2 p.m. for the double
wedding of Joyce Elaine and Linda
Lorraine Schoonover, daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Schoonover,
Centermoreland. Joyce became the
bride of Rodger B. Bellas, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mahler, R.D. 1,
Dallas. Linda became the bride of
Nelson Dymond, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Nelson, Dymond, Orange.
Rev. William Watson and Rev.
William Reid performed the nupti-
als. Music was played by Mr.
Boyes. Songs were sung by Mrs.
Sterling
Chere.
The girls were given in marriage
by their father.
Attendants for the Schoonover-
Bellas nuptials were, maid of honor,
Sheryl Fuller, bridesmaid, Barbara
Miller, best man, Robert Kester and
usher Robert Phillips.
Attendants for the Schoomover-
Dymond wedding were, maid of
honor, Cindy Dymond, bridesmaid,
Linda Dymond, best man, Kenneth
Dymond, brother of the groom and,
usher was David Jones.
The brides were attired in gowns
of white lace and net. Sequins
complemented the sweetheart neck-
lines. Tiny bows enhanced the
scalloped hemline of Joyce's skirt,
while small rosettes accented the
scalloped hemline of Linda’s skirt.
A veil fell from each crown of
pearls and sequins. Bouquets were
of white roses.
Mother of the. brides chose an
embroidered green dacron dress,
which featured a pleatéd skirt. Her
corsage was of white carnations,
Mother of Nelson Dymond was
attired in dress of rose beige and!
corsage of white carnations, mother
of Roger Bellas, a suit of beige and
brown silk. Her corsage was of
white carnations.
Attendants were dressed identi-
cally in dresses of light green, fea-
turing lace bodices with light green
semi-full bell shaped skirts. Head-
dresses were little veils of light
green.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held in the Church base-
ment.
Mrs. Bellas and Mrs. Dymond: are
graduates of Tunkhannock High
School.
Mr. Bellas and Mr. Dymond are
graduates of Dallas High School.
On their wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Bellas went to Washington,
D.C., West Virginia and Gettysburg.
They are residing in Dallas.
For their wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Dymond went to the Poconos
and Dushore. They have taken up
residence in Orange.
Both Mr. Bellas and Mr. Dymond
are employed with Acme Metal
Products, Parsons.
Couples’ Club Plans
6th Annual Auction
Sixth. annual auction of Idetown
Methodist Couple’s Club will be held
June 22 at the grounds opposite the
firehouse.
There will be many old and new
items available. This year’s mer-
chandise offers variety, and includes
such useful things as household
furnishings, clothing, flowers, plants,
motor oil, tools, paint, dishes, and
quilts.
Auctioneers will be Robert Wilson
and Sam Harrison,
At 11 am. refreshments stamds
will open‘ with Mrs. Richard Ide in
charge. Hamburgs, hot dogs, pizza,
ice cream, and candy will be served.
Mrs. Al Sweitzer will again be
chairman of the baked goods. There
will be a supply of homemade bread,
pies, cakes, and cookies.
“Plan now to spend the day in Ide-
town. Come early and enjoy the old
fashioned auction atmosphere.

Entertain Alumnae
Mrs. Ruth Morgan Houser, Spring
Street, Shavertown, will entertain at

Rena Savage Griffith, her former
Ass’t. Supervisor of Nurses at Gem-
eral Hospital, who is observing her
birthday anniversary.

each year to renew old memories

Area Teachers Hold
Their Annual Dinner
On Saturday night, May 4, the
Dallas District Education Associa-
tion held its spring banquet at the
Irem Temple Country Club. The
banquet was attended by 159 com-
posing of teachers, Board Members,
retired teachers, and other guests.
Dinner was in the form of a smor-
gasbord.
Mrs. Rachel Porter, a teacher re-
tiring after 33 years of teaching
was the guest of honor. She re-
ceived a rocking chair and auto-
man as a gift from the association.
Mr. Robert Dolbear presided over
the banquet. Dr. Robert A. Body-
comb, President of Board, spoke to
the group. Dr. Robert A. Mellman
spoke a few words on retiring.
William Austin gave the invoca-
tion and presented the gifts to the
teachers who have left’ teaching,
Mrs. Grace Lord, Mrs. Marlene Holly
and to Mrs. Rachel Porter. An even-
ing of dancing in the main dining
room followed with the Joe Parsons
trio entertaining. Mabel Jenkins was
chairman for the occasion.
Mrs. Wm. Jones Is Home
After West Coast Visit
Mrs. William H. Jones, who re-
sides with her son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. David Jones,
Harris Hill Road, Trucksville has
returned home after spending six
months as the guest of her son and
daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Jones, Anaheim, California.
Mrs. Jones made the trip by jet
and was met on her return by her

Mrs. Lutsey is the former Helen
Farrel, daughter of the late Mr. and

Lutsey, Wilkes-Barre, and the late
Mr. Lutsey.
The couple have one son, Milton,
a teacher in Downingtown schools.
His daughter, Lori, one and a half
years of age is the only great grand-
child.

At a lovely spring wedding, Miss
Elaine Harley, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Daniel Harley, Stark, Florida,
became the bride of Pastor Richard
Besteder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Corey
Besteder, Kunkle, on April 5 in the
chapel of Johnson Bible College,
Knoxville, Tenn.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by Pastor Robert E.
Black, Professor of Religion at the
college, in the presence of family,
teachers and classmates. Organist
was Joel Rood. Miss Nancy Rhymer
was soloist.
The bride, given marriage by her
father, wore an imported ballerina
length gown of white orgamza and
chantilly lace over silk taffeta, made
with a sabrina neckline, fitted bodice
and three quarter length sleeves.
Her fingertip veil of illusion fell
from a crown of seed pearls and
crystals. She carried a cascade bou-
quet of white roses and baby breath
centered with a large white orchid.
Her neckline was a golden chain
from which hung a miniature gold |
cross, gift of the bridegroom.
Miss Judy Fudgett, classmate of
the bride was maid of honor. Her
gown of mint green silk organza
was street length and she wore a
matching dior bow headpiece. Her
sancascade bouquet was a white
crysanthemums with mint green |
streamers. |
Bridesmaids Karen and Judy Bes-
teder, sisters of the bridegroom, were
attired in matching gowns of pink
and blue, fashioned in similar de-
sign to that of the maid of ‘honor. |
They wore matching headpieces and |
also carried white chrysanthemums.
Wayne Jocelyn served as best
man, Jerry Holabaugh and. Thomas
Harley, brother of the bride, as
ushers.
Mother of the bride selected a
white accessories and wore a corsage
of white chrysanthemums. Bride-
groom’s mother chose a street length
gown of beige organza and lace and
wore matching accessories. Her cor-
sage was also of white hrysanthe-
mums.
The bridegroom was ordaimed on
April 11 at Church of Christ, Sweet
Valley. The couple spent. their
honeymoon in Harrisburg and Wells-
boro.
The bridé is a graduate of Brad-
ford County High School, Stark,
Florida and is a freshman at John-
son Bible« College, where she «is
majoring in Sacred Music and Christ-
ian Work.
The bridegroom is a graduate of
Westmoreland High School, where
he was a member of the key club,
track and football teams, serving as
captain of the latter. He will gradu-
ate this month from Johnson Bible
College, and will enter Milligan Col-
