Conference, Atlantic
City, Friday and Saturday, by Don-
ald Weidner and Leighton Scott.
| Program, located at the Shelburne
| Hotel, was sponsored by the Penn-
'sylvania Newspaper Publishers’ As-
sociation and the New Jersey Press
day night. Games were played with Association.

| noon’ with a panel review of the
| day’s workshop discussions given by
| the three reading specialists who

of the workshops. Nationally known
| ending authorities who conducted
! the conference were: Dr. Harry T.
| Hahn, Pontiac, Michigan; Dr. Mar-
| jorie S. Johnson of Temple Uni-
| versity; and Dr. Helen Murphy of
Boston University.
Tommy Kupstas In AF
Tommy Kupstas, who once turned
‘hot lead into type on the Inter-
| type machine at the Dallas Post, is
' following his brother John, also a
former Linotype operator, into the
' Air Force.
Tommy, 20, recently with Graphic
| Arts, enlisted two weeks ago. This
with five other trainees from Great-
|er Wyoming Valley, enroute for
| basic training at Lackland Air’ Force
! Base, Texas. Johnnie is stationed
in Germany.
In Swimming Production

Cynthia Townend, Yeager Avenue,
Dallas, will appear in this year’s
synchronized swimming production
by students at Wellesley College,
Wellesley, Mass. “Sound and Science”
a program of ten numbers performed
to a variety of rhythms, will be
presented in the pool on the campus

Miss Townend, a sophomore at
Wellesley, is director of a swim show
number to be performed to the
music of Gregorian Chant; will swim
‘in “Patterns in Percussion, which
has only drum beats for accompani-
{ ment; and will take part in a num-
| ber based on folk music.
